"Mona" is stellar. I just close my eyes and listen.

I have CJF Reunion as well. Never listened to it much after its release. Should give it another spin. :)

FWIW, of the versions available currently, the HDTracks has by far the best sound quality and mastering, even better than the Pure Pleasure LP (unless you just have to have a 12” record)

Great album that consists of highlights from various '68/'69 concerts primarily taken at the Fillmore and Carousel Ballroom. The sound quality is very good. It is priced right, $8.99, for a double CD on Amazon now.

Disc One: Great version of Mono as a lead off, Codine, Gold & Silver, Dino's Song, nice Pride of Man and interesting flute in Light Your Windows.
Disc Two: Nice lead off with The Fool followed by a slow number song by Dino, I Can't Believe It which is followed by a great Who Do You Love.

My sister bought this album back in 70 also. I listened to it quite a bit back then and ended up with it in my album collection.

Yeah, could easily be the favorite for me. The song itself was covered by the Stones on the US album The Rolling Stones Now!, which I had before hearing Happy Trails. It was one of my favorite songs on that album, but a very different version. Given its 64 release, it of course did not have that acid rock sound, so here comes Quicksilver's version, and right out of the gate, after the Bo Diddley beat is established by Elmore, that you get that wild feedback from I assume Cipollina's guitar. Gives me chills.

i like em with and without dino. no reason to choose.

really love their cover of "codine"

last night i came across a fantastic youtube video of a guy playing both the cippolina and duncan guitar parts from "fresh air" on a split screen... and another guy doing a note for note perfect cover of "cobra"... cant get enough of that song.

I got lucky last night, and ran into a NM copy of Happy Trails in shrinkwrap. Looks like it was hardly ever played. Great score for $5.00. I've played Side 1, and was mesmerized. Side 2 tonight.

I always thought it was John Cipollia's vibrato that made Quicksilver stand out. Fresh Air was a good tune. Have another hit!

First two albums killer. I do admit the first two with Dino back were very different but really catchy. If you could accept the difference they were a little corny but still really catchy. A few of the early bootleg live albums are great also but don't reach the highs of the first two albums.

those skinny fingers with the fingerpicks made a difference with the vibrato. here's a set of his picks I have that his roadie gave me at a 1979 gig.
