That's why I mentioned Mike Love and Yoko because those two are apt to induce howls of disapproval, whether you think it's deserved or not. The OP didn't ask what artist fairly, or unfairly, gets the most short shrift on this forum.

Could we please declare a moratorium on this over-asserted assertion? I've never seen TBL and I've hated the Eagles all my life

Pre-rock era music. The folk revival. The Kingston Trio. Their first 5 albums all went to #1 on the charts, not sure if that record has been equaled yet. At one time, they had 5 albums in the Top Ten at the same time.

Seinfeld made me like "Witchy Woman". Separated from the Seinfeld episode I don't like it much though...

If there were any justice in the world, and if it hadn't been for many years of US foolishness and stupidity, the 'Russian Scott Walker' would be an internationally feted interpretive genius, known for more than just the unrepresentative interwebs phenomenon, 'Я о́чень рад, ведь я, наконе́ц, возвраща́юсь домо́й'

This touching eulogy provides a brief synopsis of what we missed through our misguided cultural and political intolerance; 'he who has ears, let him hear':

I saw some Chinese records the other day. It occurred to me none of them have ever gotten any attention here. None. Whats up?

Much maligned/neglected musicians on this Forum:
-Syd Barrett/Syd Barrett's original Pink Floyd
    -Brian Jones
-Keith Relf/The Yardbirds in general (except for the "big three pickers")
    -Tiny Tim
-The Monkees as a quality act (hint: It's really not witty to spell it "Monkeys")
    -Punk rock acts (in general)
    -Ted Nugent (99% negative...and rarely music-based)
    -Teenage Fanclub (surprisingly...)
-Bob Dylan (in regard to the quality/genius aspect of his singin')
    -The Velvet Underground (unsurprisingly...)

You could shorten that list to "anyone whose first record came out after the poster left high school," frankly. All modern music sucks, you know.

Some people on this board left high school in the 60s, so I don't think that rule totally works! :D

I'm sure there were plenty of people that came of age in the 60s who thought "that new 70s stuff" was crap.

    Great movie.

As far as OP question, I would say INXS.

Even in the general public consciousness, it seems that they get mentioned as footnotes to U2 (or insert really any big band name active at that time here).

So 100 percent of people who liked early Beatles, Rolling Stones, Beach Boys, Animals, Herman's Hermits etc also liked Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen, Elton John etc? Absolutely no one said they liked the 60s more than the 70s during the 70s?

Well many bands listed seem to be listed here because of a lack of discussion. What about a band who is talked about a ton, but with high (and in my opinion unjustified) levels of derision? Led Zeppelin. I mean there is literally a mega thread about how unexcited people are about their 50th anniversary. I can't think of another band on this forum where people start major threads to let everyone else know just how disinterested they are in them or their future releases.

That Joyce woman who is in every topic about bad album covers. I'm sure she's a pleasant enough person.
