Not Reeves hate but......NLMD seems more suited to someone like Earl Slick but I will reserve judgment until I've heard the remake. Guessing that Gabrels gives it a sonic lift whereas Frampton fell flat. I do like the Time Will Crawl redux from iSelect so I'm looking forward to this set.

For me, he's Bowie's best guitarist outside of Fripp. But that's just my taste.

He was born in Staten Island, NY, went to Parsons and joined The Cure in 2012 after Robert Smith heard him rehearsing with David Bowie.

I've always liked the remixes form the 80's and amazed that they chose the dub version of Loving the Alien (this is a slightly better than the dance version) in that they must have really thought about which versions to include, however, they then ruin it by including a totally pointless version of Tonight (Magic Dance would have been a much better choice). I also think the extended dance mixes from the Never Let Me Down songs are slightly better than the ones included in this box but you can't have it all.

The Japanese Girls is interesting but i think the best version is the extended edit. Always liked the song. Much better than most of the stuff that ended up on NLMD. They should have included the Extended Dance Mix for Loving The Alien instead of the Dub,in my opinion.

Anyway, looking forward to listen to NLMD 2018.

So the Serious Moonlight and Glass Spider albums are box set exclusives on vinyl, but not on cd.

I really liked him at the time he worked with Bowie. I thought his playing was unique, modern & inspired Bowie to search for his muse. Over time I've cooled on him because now his playing sounds a little, "samey" to me especially live. Of course, I should confess I've come to think of Earl Slick as Bowie's best guitar player. I pity anyone who has to sound like Ronno, Fripp, and Gabrels live but Slick pulled it off.

Love the new Recall comp, very excited to have the live albums. I haven't delved into recordings for these tours too much (except for the DVDs) and I'm especially excited to hear a decent version of the Glass Spider tour

The 2018 version of NLMD I'll wait and see about. Interesting group of musicians though. And I do love the Gabrels era. I do like Gabrels better when Bowie reeled him in a bit though so hopefully he plays modestly.

The Dance disc will be probably a one time curiousity listen unfortunately.

I am still lamenting the loss of Too Dizzy

I'm looking forward to the individual releases on this one. The box is bit much for me.

Let's hope they stripped everything except Bowie's vocals. No horns, Kizilcay, Frampton, Rojas.

As of October 12 Tim Lefebvre will forever be known as the bass player on Never Let Me Down

I mean they will be released separately later on cd, not on vinyl.

This quote – "Among the studio and live albums from the period, the set will also contain an exclusive new production of the 1987 album Never Let Me Down, by Bowie producer/engineer Mario McNulty with new instrumentation by Bowie collaborators Reeves Gabrels, David Torn, Sterling Campbell and Tim Lefebvre. Never Let Me Down (2018) also boasts a string quartet with arrangements by Nico Muhly and a guest cameo by Laurie Anderson on Shining Star (Makin’ My Love)." – sure make it seem that way, doesn't it?

I love the original NLMD. Warts and all. Including Too Dizzy. I'm biased but I definitely play it more than I play a lot of other artist's albums

Tim Lefebvre was amazing on Blackstar though

Fingers crossed that this is of similar quality to the "Time Will Crawl" remix...
