Continuing on from where we left off, sort of, since I skipped PPM for some reason I guess we’ll go back.

What’s your favourite song on the album? Mine is the title track. Not hard to see why it was a big hit, and the title of the album. Timeless melody and one of the songs that best holds up from the first 5 albums. Also this album is my favourite of the first 5, perhaps tied with WTB. It’s quite melancholy in comparison to the other albums. Special mention to There’s a Place, which beats Help! or In My Life by a couple years and a lot of albums for being in my opinion the first deep Beatles song. Also this easily has my favourite pick of covers.

My guess is lead will be Twist and Shout followed by I Saw Her Standing There follwed by Please Please Me.

    For the other Beatles polls:
The Best Song on The Beatles ‘With the Beatles’ Poll
The Best Song on The Beatles ‘With the Beatles’ Poll
Best Song on The Beatles' 'Beatles For Sale' Poll?
Best Song on The Beatles’ ‘Help!’ Album? Poll
Best Song on The Beatles' 'Past Masters, Vol. 1' Poll?

Voted for Anna. Could have just as easily gone with Twist & Shout, but figured that would do fine without me. Only Beatles album for which any cover would come into consideration for me, and here it was two - both among John's finest vocals. So are Money and Postman, but by then the originals were too strong to be denied.

I almost always want to go with their originals, so I chose PPM.

My second would be There's A Place.

No, I voted for "Do You Want To Know a Secret".

Also considered "Misery" and "There's A Place".

Leading 22 people in a 31 song Motown tribute in 2 months which we start with the 3 Beatles covers done in Beatles arrangements, and have taken on myself the Lennon Postman vox. But that will be cake compared to my buddy doing Money and my attempt at David Ruffin on I Wish It Would Rain

George’s vocal on this is very unique. Absolutely love it. Just wish it was centered.

Have a real soft spot for that as I sang it as an a capella lullaby to my baby girls (now 11) about 1000x

Tough one. I voted for "Do You..." but just as easily could have picked any one of 3-4 others.

I know it's early but wow, have people bummed out on Twist or something? Would've thought that'd be leading by far.

Went with Twist & Shout. Fabulous track and the parade scene in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" was so amazing you have to love the track for this alone

Please Please Me is still fresh and exciting to me, Lennon sounds so soulful on Baby It's You but those sha-la-las by Harrison are annoying sometimes

There's A Place. An introspective song on an album of love songs. An early Lennon classic.

    Bubbling under - title track,ISHST

My 2nd fave early Beatles album just behind AHDN don't think they ever came close to the raw, pure sound on later recordings. There's a Place is brilliant primal Lennon and underrated.

My faves would be Misery and There's A Place, but the best is I Saw Her Standing There .

Twist and Shout hit my little kids brain like a steamroller in 1964. I was 5 and its possible it was my first experience of what sex was like. It made my stomach feel weird. In fact throughout the 60s I felt they never approached that song for greatness. They went soft (lol). Nowadays I can totally appreciate that great 1-2-3-4 count down that starts I Saw Her Standing There. Its total r&r. When I bought my mono vinyl Please Please me was the first album I listened to just to hear that first. But Twist and Shout will always be my first love and what turned me on to a lifetime of music addiction.
