According to this article... I didn't see a thread for this, so if I missed it, feel free to delete this...

Of course, just in time so he wins another Grammy...

Almost 92, Tony Bennett Coming to Save Columbia Records with Lady Gaga, Diana Krall Releases

Tony, I’m told, will announce another duets album on his birthday. A Diana Krall duets album of songs by the Gershwins will hit stores in September, right before the Grammy deadline cut off on September 30th. Tony and Diana have sung together on off tracks in the past, but this is a whole concept album, and it’s on Columbia. We need new Tony Bennett albums now more than ever!

I am hoping these will actually be vocal duets and not just Diana accompanying him on piano! I remember being so excited that Diana Krall was working with Barbra Streisand only to find out she produced that album, accompanied her on piano, but did not sing a duet with her!

    Put it on my list.

Gotta say, Tony looks damn good for his age. Hell, any age.

I think the two of them are more compatible than his pairing with Lady Gaga.

Might as well stick with this thread for the new Krall album, but there was some brief earlier discussion in the big Tony Bennett albums thread, starting here:

That thread is too unwieldy for this casual fan (i.e., I'm more a fan of his duet partners than him).

On his last studio duet lp, I thought their effort was flat and turgid. But the bonus live track of both singing together was much better, showed real chemistry.
    So I'm kinda torn here

So she’s not playing piano on this? Doesn’t look that way from the video. The piano on Fascinating Rhythm sounds like her though.

It's possible she plays piano on a track or two, but the press release states "The Bill Charlap Trio features Bill Charlap on piano, Peter Washington on bass and Kenny Washington on drums." and they receive billing on the album cover, so I would think she doesn't. We'll have to wait until the album is released to see the credits...

Right. Her piano playing is her main draw for me. Maybe the band is Tony’s.

It looks like the Bill Charlap Trio backed him on his last album "The Silver Lining (The Songs Of Jerome Kern)" from 2015. That leads me to believe these recordings with Krall are new and NOT from the early 2000's, but I could be wrong -- does anyone know if Tony was working with Charlap back then?

    It sure does.

After this hopefully she will get back to her past style where she played the piano more - circa 2001 and before.

I love her piano playing. The last album I have by her is Live In Paris. Are there any albums after that that find her in a jazz piano playing mode?

I get tired of all these all duet albums from him, but this sounds lovely. Much better than that atrocity with Lady Gaga.

    Can't wait.

Ordered. Noticed it's released jointly by Columbia and Verve. Are they both Sony labels? Or is Verve still owned by Universal?

There are CD, LP, and digital editions.

Target has an exclusive CD with two (solo) bonus tracks, “How Long Has This Been Going On?” (Diana) and “Oh, Lady Be Good!” (Tony).

Barnes & Noble has an exclusive red vinyl edition with color cover.

The official Tony & Diana Shop had some autographed bundles, but those appear to be sold out already.
