My Taschen book was on Charlie Chaplin. I passed it over to some lucky bibliophile.

I have CINEMA NOW, which I found cheap at the thrift store, got it because it had a (DVD included) bunch of early short films by now famous directors. Those shorts might not be found elsewhere.

I have three of their directors series books – Michael Mann, Kubrick, Hitchcock and Paul Verhoeven. I have a number of their film books too. Films of the 70s, films of the 60s and films of the 90s - maybe films of the 40s as well.

As others have noted, there are a number of other titles that would be interesting, however what with the current ages of our family members, they would not be able to be put on display.

I have quite a few some XL and some XXL. I'm waiting for a lower cost version of this one for the masses:

I have all of the film-related "Archives" volumes except the Almodovar one (which I'm kicking myself for not having bought when it was available heavily discounted, as it's now gotten quite expensive), the 3-volume set of Julius Shulman's architectural photography, the XL-sized volumes on Marvel and DC Comics, the original XL-sized version of William Claxton's "Jazz Life", the 3-volume National Geographic set, a complete set of the flexi-cover "All-American Ads" books edited by Jim Heimann, a complete set of their reprints of Arts & Architecture magazine, and probably at least a dozen of their other books that I'm forgetting right now.

Yes, I'm a fan of their publications.

Thanks for the information. I thought it would go up in price! Now I feel better about spending the money I did on a book. I'm saving it for my daughter - at least that is what I tell myself but really I doubt she is going to get it til I pass on. Winsor McKay was a major influence in my philosophy about art and fantasy. I've had the various collections through the years and bought one of his biographies twice. This collection is special though.

Damn, I hadn't realized that one was already out of print. I kept meaning to get it, but I guess I waited a bit too long. They've reissued it in a newer edition, but although the newer one is likewise an XXL volume it appears to be a bit smaller (13.5" x 17.3" as opposed to the 15" x 19.8" of the earlier one, assuming the dimensions listed on Amazon are correct), and the second volume of the first edition is not included this time around.

I'm not sure if my version of this book is worth almost $900, but I love the old pictures of Halloween costumes, greeting cards, candy, etc.

Thanks for that reminder. I found the "smaller" sized edition for $60. I've been looking for it for a while and hadn't realized that it had been downsized.
