JBL - L100 Classic Bookshelf Speakers (Pair) Quote: "L100 Classic touts significant improvements to the transducers, enclosure tuning, and crossover network design. Designed by Chris Hagen."
Some of the Klipsch Heritage speakers are in the same territory price-wise, but at least they're big and heavy enough to break your back if you try to move them. That's a good thing, right?
I had a pair of original L-100's. They did nothing for me. But when I found a pair of JBL L-100t3's...now we're talkin'!
Originals were $600 which is $3500 in today’s dollars. I bought a pair in 74 and loved those orange foam grills. They were beautiful. My refurbished vintage pair have blue foam. .
I really like both the orange and blue. I'm sure they aren't too far off as far as inflation goes, but that is still a bit out of my range.
Yes there are. So should an established brand not jump in too ? It will be interesting to get SHs take on the new design and sound. And good or bad, there is also the design nostalgia factor for some. Like the VW Bug, Herman Miller furniture and other reissued classics.
I had these and enjoyed them! This troubles me about the new ones the same at it bothered me on their Ti Series. "L100 Classic uses a newly developed JT025Ti1 titanium dome tweeter" I never "warmed" to any of JBL's titanium tweeters.
Don't think the wifey would let me spend that kind of money. Always thought the originals were overrated. My friend had some American Monitor speakers that looked very similar with 12" white woofer that sounded darn good for a lot less money.
Will be interested to see what you think. From what I've heard the orange are particularly strong on imaging and soundstaging, while the blue are a tad rolled off in the upper register. Which can work, depending on what kind of music you favor. What was the third color again?
