Not in a world where 99% of the population is carrying a phone, with alerts hooked to those phones, plus my experience with God knows how many sellers that have made a point to get back to me, even if it is solely not to leave me hanging.
That on top of the way I responded quickly to potential buyers, as I already stated.
Also, I have seen dozens of sellers that put out a notice that they plan to be out of touch, due to hiking in the mountains.

Your point is well taken. I've sold pieces while on vacation, contacting the buyer and closing the deal while agreeing to ship out the product when I got back home. But that is not always possible. I also spend significant stretches in the hinterlands of the American west where cell phones do not work.
    To your credit. :righton: :agree:
Agreed. I assume Discogs has this feature. But then, I know me. More than once, I've remembered 200 miles out of town that I forgot to stop the mail. That somebody would space out putting a hold on their Discogs account seems unexceptional to me. It may not be right but it's entirely human.

If I don't hear anything from either by the time the 20% off sale starts at Acoustic Sounds, I know Chad will be happy to take my $100.00 + for his copy of the Classic Records version of what I want.

That way I know it'll arrive within 2 days, via Fedex, with a backup plan, even though no AS has ever gone wrong for me, in over 10 years.

Received my first discogs order today & I'm happy with the transaction.
Feels like he's a fellow collector that does some selling.
    Everything graded accurately.
Is there a place on my discogs to save favorite sellers?

Ordered two items from a discogs seller almost two weeks ago. One was a promo copy of "Mind Games" labelled VG and the other was a LA 1st pressing of Hey Jude labelled VG+. They arrived yesterday and I'm 99% certain that the seller sent the wrong Hey Jude 45. The copy I got has the matrix numbers on the label and the LA pressings do not have those nor do they have production credit or "Recorded in England" on the label. Plus my copy has the "IAM" in the triangle so I know its a Scantron. Not to mention it was misgraded, has lots of scuffs and has a skip in the track. I looked through the other Scantron Hey Jude's on discogs and I was able to find a copy from the same seller that was more accurately graded to what I have (G+). I contacted the seller about my dissatisfaction before I realized to do this. I haven't heard back from the seller yet, but I'm sure I just caught this seller making a mistake or ripping me off about five bucks by sending me a record that is graded 3 grades below what I ordered. Might have to weed out my first seller...

Looking into doing my second purchase from a Discogs seller. I have 2 in mind..
It helps to not only look at the fb, but also read some of his responses.
Not only negatives (though if the number of negatives is too high I won't bother), but also neutrals.
Is the seller's grading accurate according to past transactions.
How did the seller respond to fb. Was he accommodating or flippant (ie: rude)?

Well Gregg, you were right. Seller had gone to Brazil, and apologized right off the bat. Unfortunately for him, it was 4 days later, and I had bought a sealed copy, with a free upgrade to Priority Mail, which arrived in perfect condition, just this morning. He lost a $100 + sale, in the most highly technological time ever, in the history of the world.

Anyway, that now makes 39 successful transactions, and zero unsuccessful at Discogs.

Just as an update I try to limit myself to USA sellers with over 1000 transactions.
    Less than 5 negatives & 20 neutrals.
It helps by being able to read a few of them to sere what was said by both buyer and seller.
Many neutrals are not bad. Like record arrived promptly.

Currently looking at 4 other sellers.
Will check out the negative/neutral fb.
Also try to limit items to stuff that's not easily found.
My second seller's package should arrive today.

My second seller's package arrived today, but he didn't include plastic outer sleeves.
Already did transactions with 2 more sellers. Let's see how these turn out.
So far I only have one seller added to favorite sellers.
    Can I archive messages?

One thing I've been doing lately is when I find a seller that I'm unsure of a purchase.
I send the seller a message with a standard grading question like...
Any scratches or scuffs on the vinyl?
Any writing or stickers on the labels?
Just to see if they'll respond or even acknowledge the question.
I sent the same question to 3 different sellers on a 45 (only one responded).
Sent same to 2 other sellers tonight.

Yeah sometimes I would do the same thing and I would also request for pictures of the label if they can send some over. It really ticks me off when they don't respond to business inquiries with a potential customer. They're running a business here, not responding will drive customers away.

I have become quite content about people not responding to record inquiries. If you think about it, they've just told you everything you need to know. Even more so than if they wrote back!

Good communication is the key to a sucessful business.
If you don't get communication to a question prior to the sale, there's a good chance communication will be difficult should a problem arise.

So far sent inquiries to 8 different sellers.
    3 didn't respond at all
1 stated that there was a light scratch on the record
1 said should be fine. order away & we'll cancel order if any problems.
I'd rather order stuff from they guy who was open about the scratch than the one would told me to order without checking the vinyl for me.

If less than one week has passed I would wait. More than one week look elsewhere. Sure enough they might be busy but they might be so should problems arise.

Lied on condition. Might have lied again. I would not want to find out.

Tell them you can order and while you proceed with the payment they can start shipping the record..

I've learned that this is probably the all-around best way to gauge. Even if I've no real question, I'll still send sellers a message with one to see if and how they respond. Neither party on Discogs is as serious or reliable as the majority of folks who use this forum to buy/sell/trade.
