Some has said that new releases of The Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here are coming this fall. I have seen no official announcements of that. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Can I play those on a regular cd player, or do I need to buy a special one?

It's a hybrid you can play it on a normal Cd player as well.

For the love of all things holy, we don't need a new Dark Side and Wish You Were Here. Talk about milking it.

Animals 5.1, yes. Wall 5.1 yes.

Agreed. Whoever took the decision to release these SACDs needs to take a clever pill. Every audiophile who wanted them already has them. The 2003 DSOTM SACD can still be got for $15 for pitys sake.
And they wonder why the the record industry is on its knees.

They're not new, they're reissues. I think the originals are OOP, just look at some if the prices on eBay.

On Ebay? Look for the lowest prices, not the highest. There's no reason for these titles to go OOP. It's a completely fabricated scarcity. Regardless, how many people who want these titles don't have them? Surely there's a larger market for previously unreleased material?

How many retailers are selling copies of these SACDs? They're just reissues and have nothing to do with unreleased material coming out. This has been planned since at least last year.

I have no idea how many retailers are offering them. But given they've been out before, I also know demand will most likely be less than it was previously. Someone noted earlier yo can buy one of these SACD discs fore $15 currently. I don't know how true that is, I just know the same old releases aren't interesting.

Dark Side of the Moon is widely available in 5.1, but Wish You Were Here is not.

The catalog has transferred to Pink Floyd Records, so this is merely a re-release (DSOTM and WYWH SACDs) to reflect the change of rights. This happens on a regular basis.

Back on topic... If anything is to happen this year then an announcement can’t be far off.

But alas, i am thinking this might be vapourware...

Interesting, they use the alternate cover for Wish You Were Here (which was released that way in Canada back in the day).

oh with the burning guy leaning backwards? I think it was used for usa too.

The UK cover has the man leaning forward i think.

Wait, there’s a version of Time on “A Foot In The Door” with no alarm bells? I would be interested in this.

I always think the UK sleeve is the standard and official version. But it's nice to have different variants of the cover.
There's an East German pressing as well with a different cover:

The original DSOTM can be found for $15. But you won't find the WYWH SACD for $15 as it's release was limited unlike the DSOTM SACD.

I’d be happy with a legal 5.1 of Meddle.
