Sure. While I think b/w does it correct, I'm always okay with any new Beatles product even if it's not something I go back to often. It'd go great with an A Hard Day's Night box set. While some think it's blasphemy, what else can they do with it? It has gotten the Criterion treatment already. Plus it's good for the fabs to be out there with new/old product for the children to get excited about. Not all of us got to live in 1964.

It's impossible to replicate the actual color it'll always look painted over.

Photographing something in B&W and color produces different density or whatever.

WOW!...Now THIS is what I'm talking about!..This just got my heart racing when i saw it. Someone send this to McCartney. Something tells me he would have no problem taking something grey and colourizing it. ;)

No! The Beatles filmed it deliberately as an aesthetic choice. United Artists could have afforded color then. The band and the director chose monochrome. Respect their intentions.

Exactly! It is exciting! To all those who are saying NO, NO, NO... please take a look at that clip. You wouldn't want to see a version like this? Really??

Even if the studio's motivation was to save money, the director and his team made a work of art, within the particular medium of b&w film, that is beautiful on its own terms. I agree, we should respect their creation--and respect the audience, too.

The film isn't a historical snapshot that becomes interesting in a new way if you can get some idea of how the soldiers really looked in their blue uniforms (but then you close the browser window and move on). That's what the clip of the Beatles in the train station is--just a 4x5 shot of a second or two that might make you go, "oh, neat!" but the color isn't exactly natural, it probably wouldn't look so impressive on a big screen, and I doubt it would really serve the film well. If young people watched the movie fully colorized, I think they'd be as likely to be turned off by the color that doesn't-look-quite-right as they'd be by seeing the monochrome.

But it would be filthy rich in colour! ;)
