It's always just the people involved at the majors. I don't think there is a set policy. It seems to change with each regime. In other words, in a year (or a week) it could all change.

I think for humanity, physical product is on the way out. For audiophiles, who knows? Doesn't matter really, there are enough CD's and LP's in the world to go around, right?

You give me hope, Steve. That was exactly what someone who consults with RGM told me. We are hoping it was just an anomaly this year and they return to their normal cooperative ways next year.

What happened with The White Album? DCC or AF? Mono or stereo? It's one of my all-time faves so I'm curious to know.

So almost every version ever released in over 50 years is wrong wrong wrong. Yet everyone thinks it's right. This has to be the biggest mistake in recording history.

Now I need to find the best CORRECT version. Even if it sounds wrong to me!

Anyway thanks Steve for taking the time to answer me. Cheers!

Thanks Steve I take that as Mono & Stereo through LIB.
I have some very early German (Debut particularly) issues that sound about the next best to me after that.

Very interesting. We have that one, as well as the 2007 remastering, which was also done by Steve Hall. We also have the 2007 vinyl, mastered by Steve Hall with lacquers cut by Kevin Gray.

    Hi Steve,

You remastered a lot of stuff for Razor & Tie that you might not have personally liked. (70's AM pop hits etc.)

Are there any songs that surprised you? Meaning you still are not a fan of this song but, boy that sure was recorded well.

Steve, if you had a"top 10" bucket list that you always wanted to have a "crack at", which album or albums would you like to remaster before you hang'em up? Let's hope you have a long time before that happens! Steve, really enjoyed all your remastering, "working your magic " from DCC to AF, for now and the future! Really have enjoyed your excellent work throughout the years! It's a treasure trove of audiophile music forever!! Thank you Steve!!!

Wait, what? I'm still confused. Then it seems logical that Creed Taylor must have made a last minute decision to swap the channels. Which would mean that Hadani (or FG or whomever) did not make a mistake. As producer, Creed certainly wouldn't let such a huge mistake happen, he would've saw to it that such an error was corrected asap. Which means that Astrud is supposed to be on the right where she's always been regardless of what's on the master tape. So wrong is actually right?

This is seriously driving me crazy and it always will. Aspirin please!

Fantastic mastering job Steve. The sound of Ginger's double bass drums on White Room always put a smile on my face.

Many thanks for your response Steve, apologies to members that may have wished me ask directly about Sticky Fingers & Exile's preferred pressings as plenty seem to go for US and not always UK for these titles.

    Hi Steve,

I'm looking to drive from Sydney to kiama on the weekend and am looking for... Maybe not :)

This may be a good time to put some closure on your Steely Dan Aja mix, first 10,000 on cd then cloned for 1992 Europe releases?

Also, your Who's Next release - it had different Us and Canadian versions? I only have the Canadian release

    Thanks

Was the idea of remastering any Soundgarden material for AF ever entertained? It would have been great to have had AF discs of Badmotorfinger thru Down on the Upside.

Thank gosh you did. I was a real Cream hater before hearing your Wheels Of Fire. Your version of this album really started turning me around on this band.
