Have you done any heavy metal albums? Are there any you would like to do?

    Steve,

Thank you for creating this great community and resource.

I've been on here a while and I originally believed you explicitly wanted this site to be a long-standing set of reference material for the world (hence editing titles to be more accurate and findable, fixing misspellings, a focus from the audiophile perspective, etc.).

But as the demographics of the members, and focuses of discussions, have evolved (e.g., a music perspective in addition to the audiophile perspective), it's less clear what this site is fundamentally about.

    So, my two questions area:

What are your goals for SteveHoffman.tv, and how can we help them be reached?

    Thanks again!

There is the DCC disc of the best of the Modern Sounds of Country and Western Music albums you have done. There is the Inglot Rhino though.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question, Steve! Much appreciated! There's countless more albums I wouldn't mind having your opinion on, but figured I should limit it to a couple of my favs.

-Love the London West German Aftermath! I remember reading a thread regarding it, and a poster said it could almost have been a DCC title. I agree!

-For Zep 1, I'm happy with the '80s CD, and the Classic records 200gram vinyl. Do you not believe it was recorded well, or just don't like any of the mastering choices?

-I don't have that particular Kind of Blue SACD (I have the MOFI SACD + a few copies on vinyl). I have read about it, though, and will have to pick one up!

-Not surprised you chose the DCC for the Doors debut. I think it's your masterpiece! I suppose the only other contender would be the first press Monarch vinyl, which I've never heard. I vaguely remember you saying the DCC was the last time the master tape was used, that it was given a funeral!, etc. At least it died a hero!

-Ohhh...the AF over the DCC Pet Sounds! Controversial! I dig both, but as I'm sure you know the DCC is a beloved forum favorite.

    Thanks again!

The original MCA CD for You're Gonna Get It Is is your mastering, isn't it? I have that & it is my favorite Tom Petty, for both the music and the sound.

Did you get any input from Kate Bush on mastering her Hounds Of Love album for vinyl?

Did you get any feedback from Brian Wilson on any of your Pet Sounds projects? I always wondered how they sounded to the genius with one good ear.

Name an instance where the artist helped you in the mastering process positively.

Good enough for me Steve. We shall hereby lay this topic to rest. I always preferred Astrud on the right anyway. End of story. Carry on my good man.

I absolutely love S&P's All-Time Greatest Hits Of Roy Orbison. Any fond memories of that album? Which songs were the most fun or the most challenging to work on?

I'm curious about that myself. But our beloved Kate imposes a code of omerta that is the envy of Mafia chieftains the world around. I'm pretty sure MI6 sends agents to her place for lessons in keeping secrets.

Regardless of price? That's silly, there are amps costing over $100,000.00.

To be clear THERE IS NO DCC of the actual "MODERN SOUNDS IN COUNTRY AND WESTERN MUSIC album. Only the Rhino. I mastered the original for Rhino.
