Never grow weary, the trick is to fall in love a little with the music that you're working on. Each and every project. Works like a charm. Even with Korean Rap.

Have you ever turned a project down because you didn’t like the band and/or artist?

The guy who posted that pic of a pizza (can't find it now).

Cut your pizza in fourths, then two more whacks. That's the only way.

Both here and in your 'discography'-pages I don't often encounter current artists/projects and I love the nice sounds and your mastering on Pugwash's ''Eleven Modern Antiquities''.
What's more fun: mastering recordings from the '50s, '60s and '70s or working with newly made recordings/recording artists?

    Hi Steve !
    Any recommendation about Prince ?
Would you be interested to remaster some of his albums ?
Any chance to hear your version of Ladies Of the Canyon ?

My favorite from you : The Doors , Wheels of Fire, Blue, Court & Spark (Joni Mitchell)
    Cheers from Paris France

Earliest Prince CD's are the best sounding to me.

Ladies Of The Canyon was scrapped in favor of BLUE. The tape was toast, or getting that way, sadly.

    Steve,
Maybe you can answer this one:
    Your favourite pre-amp - in the 10 - 20K range?
Your favourite power amp - mono block pair - in the 10 - 20K range?
Your favourite speakers - in the 40-50K range. ?

Have you heard the Paravicini EAR 509 monoblocks? A 1970s design. how good?

Do you go to the artists or do the artists come to you? Name an artists that you know to be a true audiophile.

Thanks for your reply. Very sad indeed for Ladies...
Have you ever been asked to remaster French Artists ? like Serge Gainsbourg, Charles Aznavour, Jacques Brel (he way Belgian by the way), others ?
And what about Brazilians like tom Jobim or Vinicius de Moraes ?

If you could pick a couple/few examples of best improvement between different masterings (and/or mixes) of a specific album, what would they be? For example, “version A of album XX is terrible, but listen to version B and it just opens up.”

My wife looks at me like I’m nuts sometimes for tracking down better versions of albums that I already own. It would be great to have Steve Hoffman “endorsed” examples to share with her to prove that I’m not nuts, or at least not nuts in this specific way. :)
