To Mr. Steve Hoffman: You mentioned in the past that you almost got Chicago's catalog for Gold CD reissues but you did not elaborate why the project did not materialize?
If it did, which of their album or albums were you planning to remaster first?

They wanted us to use their distorted, digitally brickwalled mastering. A deal breaker, obviously.

Hey Steve, Since you make your living with your ears, have you taken any special measures over the years to protect your hearing? Are your ears insured?;)

A bit off topic- I know you are a guitar player. What's your favorite gear (guitar, amps, effects, etc...)

    Hi Steve,
I don't have a question. I figure that if I ever meet you, then perhaps I could ask questions if the conditions were right. Instead, I think I'd rather just take the time out to thank you once again for all of the work you do. You are very much appreciated in this little tiny cubicle area of cyberspace-i.e.-the townhouse I live in.

I have a couple for ya...

How many cds and lps do you think you have in your personal collection?

Do you have an inventory or catalog them a certain way?

Also you mentioned hearing preservation.... as my wife is an audiologist and claims most folks hearing starts to decline in certain frequencies as they age.

I was curious as to how often you get hearing tests and if you will ever compensate your mastering if you find you have dips in your frequency ranges.

    Hey Steve,
A couple of years ago you started a thread concerned that, because your system at that time was "too accurate" it was hampering your down time when you just wanted to kick back and enjoy the tunes without your "work ears" on ? Was it just a work/life balance thing at the time ? Is it something you have to continually work at ?

Steve, this question may be difficult to talk about (if so I apologize, and if you can't or don't want to discuss it I certainly understand), but could we find out once and for all exactly how that mastering fiasco happened with the AF Pretenders gold CD?

Also, did you ever check out MFSL's hybrid SACD that came along later? I seem to recall you expressed interest in it at one point and was wondering if you'd heard it (and what you thought of it).

No idea how much stuff I have. I only keep what I like, not what is potentially collectible. Life’s too short.

Hearing test once a year. So far so good.
