Have been kicking myself for years for NOT getting The Complete Howling Wolf” when I had the chance.

    Which one? The 1951-1969 one?

Actually I did it to myself Again.. Constantly confusing Bear Family for the Charley label..

When I worked at Sun Studios I had two Charley sets just sitting there that I could have gotten dirt cheap but I passed.

Fast forward a few years later and it’s out of print and goes for over $100

That's not a bad idea! Would love it if Bear Family could issue a complete Howlin' Wolf box set.

    AMEN!
There has supposedly been a great deal of live performances by Wolf to surface in the last decade or so...

Very interesting! Wolf's catalog and legacy as an artist would greatly benefit from this. The upgraded Lefty Frizzell box set is a great example and also serves a purpose, because of the later-discovered live recordings and the previously unreleased material which was later issued by Dragon Street on the Guys of The Big D comp.

The Lefty set would have been done better as a part 2, instead of asking folks to buy the same stuff again. The sound and presentation on the first box was absolutely top of the pack. It’s the stuff that nakes Bear Family a legend to begin with. As it stands I’m barely tempted to drop so much money on another Lefty box.

Totally agree Mr H, I can't justify this at all despite extra tracks and fancier book, it's just too much money for not.enough return if you've got the original set.

You know what I like about Marty Robbins? As great a singer as he was, when another artist sang a song he was always genuinely attentive to the the singer and the song. You can tell he just loved a great song sang by a great singer.

Surely missed are these two legends.

I just love Marty's persona! He kinda loved others copying him.
He had this wonderful sense of humour.
    Marty and Merle, just great.

Definitely. It's even been said that Merle Haggard named his son Marty after Marty Robbins. Pretty neat when two artists can be fans of each other and later become friends.

We need either a comprehensive box set or 1CD comp focusing on the Shelton Brothers.

Another artist we need to see a Bear Family release from is the late great Milton Estes (1914-1963).

Thought about getting that one along with the companion volume of earlier recordings, Just A-Pickin' and A-Singin'. Added to the "Eventually Buy" folder.

Do keep in mind the old Lefty box is out of print and highly sought after. Copies have gone for $500, so it needed to come back some way or other.

I could watch him all day long. No one treated the music and fans with more respect than he did. The Grand Ole Opry has been dying since Marty died.
