Where do you see the Guess Who or Grand Funk on the published list for this year? You need more coffee.

    I'd have the MC5 higher.

Of those nominees I can get passionate about one band: Devo. Truly unique pioneers. Hopefully the nomination will help some folks realize they are more than just Whip It.

My understanding is that Wenner is no longer on the nominating committee.
    CSN is in the Hall.
    Neil Young also.

  5. If Chicago can get in anything's possible.

Anyway: MC5, Kraftwerk, the Cure, Roxy Music, Devo.

Not a pick for me but Stevie Nicks is one of the few r'n r women who became an instantaneous cultural icon.
Back then, she was immediately famous.
Even Joni, Linda, Jett and the Hearts had to work a bit for it.
I dunno maybe it was the top hat

No doubt that's how they began - but that's just a footnote in retrospect. They all sang on many hit records, and wound up playing their instruments. Nesmith and Dolenz wrote music too.

I'd argue the Monkees were more of a rock and roll band than a good deal of artists already inducted into the RNRHOF.

I fully understand what you are saying, but I think Radiohead is deserving--as is Roxy Music. And even though LL Cool J or Rage is not my cup of tea, I can understand why they would be included. And Kraftwerk was hugely influential.

I don’t know why they just don’t scrap this. It often makes no sense who they put in or keep out. In fact, I’m too bored of the whole thing to type anymore.

Doobies and Tull belong. John Prine is NOT rock and roll.

Don’t think Monkees are on the HOF nominating committee radar at all.

    The Cure
    Todd Rundgren
    Roxy Music
    Radiohead
    Devo

In that order. I'm so old, I still think of Radiohead as being "new" music.

When I think rock and roll, the first two people I think of are Dan Fogelberg and Boz Scaggs.

CSNY have all been inducted repeatedly. I think even they would be embarrassed at another superfluous induction here. I recall reading at one point that the plan was induct all four originally, but Young was having some sort of a spat with the others at that point and was looking to distance himself. Blame it on Shakey. . .

As long as they continue to snub groups who definitely deserve to be in there, like The Monkees, I will consider the R&R HOF a joke.

    Once again.
The HOF encompasses a wide variety.
    Read my earlier posts.
That’s why Baez, Taylor, Cat Stevens, etc. are in the HOF.

Shouldn't Wings be in there? I know Macca is in there as a solo artist...does that include Wings? Feel bad for Denny if so.

Solid list to choose from. My picks would be:

    The Cure
    Radiohead
    Kraftwerk
    MC5
    Roxy Music

I was on the fence about MC5 but I had a dream about them night before last, so they're in. Also, altho I love them both (and both are HoF-deserving) I'd vote for Eno before Todd.

They took care of Denny Laine by adding him as a Moody Blues inductee.

based strictly on 'ohio' CSNY should be in.............the sex pistols are in based strictly on......i seriously have no idea why, it could have been any punk band, but then again the singer wasn't named johnny rotten, i guess.

Don’t think MC5 will make it as only 5 performers are nominated.
More of a gesture I take it.

CSNY would be, as other poster put it, superfluous.
CSN has been recognized and are inducted.

I'd think about Boz Scaggs for "Loan Me A Dime", but, while that's a favorite of mine, I know that is not the material he's being nominated for. So, yeah, I think you're right.
