With Audio Fidelity sadly closing its doors this year, it looks like we'll have to rely on MoFi to breath new life into classic albums on SACD and LP. Sleuthing around these forums, I noticed a number a few members voicing their frustration at MoFi's lackluster new releases. Now, what are some great albums in DIRE need of a major sonic upgrade? Here's my top ten:

The HDtracks release is solid. For some odd reason, the old school Mofi gold disc of Blue Train is my personal benchmark for Coltrane sound quality. That disc rocks.

Why Buena Vista Social Club? It sounds fantastic on vinyl, no matter what release you're getting.

I'd love to see some of the earlier Genesis albums, especially Selling England. Those were all mediocre recorded at best... :(

All Things Must Pass, on six 45rpm discs. A “one step” box set with detailed liner notes, limited to 5000 numbered copies. Price - $299.00?

I was pretty hesitant to include it on my list, and to be honest, I wouldn't lose sleep if the original CD was all we got because it sounds stunning. I'm still just bummed out over getting duped into buying a stereo remix from HDtracks. I'd love to hear that original mix, in DSD.

I would just be happy to get 'The Dude'-Quincy Jones that AF had a release date for just prior to going OOB. The remastering was completed by KG as far as I know, so was hoping either IR Shane(who uses KG to Remaster a few Joe Jackson Albums for his IR Label) or MoFi or AP could arrange to get this completed SACD and sell it under their label. I was really bummed out that 'The Dude' did not get released by AF before they went OOB.

Jefferson Airplane - After Bathing at Baxters would be perfect!

Yes Baxters and Creation(although there is an older MFSL Ultradisc for Creation), but since Surrealistic Pillow and Volunteers got a recent Hybrid SACD and Vinyl release, wish they would do the same for my favorite 2 JA Albums, that are the more Paychedelic-Rock Albums.

I agree, Buena Vista Social Club does not need a MoFi release. It has only ever been mastered by Bernie Grundman an is still in print. Not a good candidate.

I would like to see MFSL do on vinyl:

Bob Dylan - More Greatest Hits
Curtis Mayfield - Roots and Curtis
    JJ Cale - Really
Love - Da Capo and Four Sail
Spirit - Clear, The Family That Plays Together, Twelve Dreams of Dr Sardonicus
Tim Buckley - Happysad and Blue Afternoon

Some of these may even be possible....

The AP SACD mastered by Kevin Gray is excellent.

I think the AP SACD mastered by Steve Hoffman is even better.

The Analogue Productions Hybrid SACD is superb and still available. No need for Mofi to do this again. However I would like them to do Crescent instead.

Selling England is far and away the best sounding early Genesis album. Pick up an original German LP and you'll see what I mean. I also hear one of the SACD's is quite good (I heard a sample of Cinema Show once from it and was blown away) but I couldn't tell you which one. I'm sure a simple search will do the trick!

Anyway, I would love to see a Going for the One MFSL. I have yet to hear a version that does the fantastic material justice, especially on LP.

I have a UK 1st and while you're right that it's probably the best-sounding of the bunch, more sonic clarity would serve the LP well nonetheless.

BTW, a fantastic Genesis album to listen to is the german Philips pressing of Nursery Cryme. Very dynamic and punchy sounding, a great listen!
