re: Me and My Uncle in 1994 - man, as much as I wish that were true I heard 7 "Me & My Uncles" and 3 "Big Rivers" in 1994 myself.

Gonna go out on a limb here. Based on 3 "clues" over on the other website, 28 has gotta be a '76 show.
(If the clues are legit, of course!)

    Clues:
1.) Brent Mydland is not in the Grateful Dead at this time.
2.) He did not meet any of the players that would form the band "Silver."
3.) The United States of America.

Number 2 is very perplexing. But it's hard to say it points to 1976, as Brent was putting out an album with the players in Silver that year. And the band had already been formed.

United States of America have a song called "California Good-Time Music"--a show from California. I don't know when Brent met the Silverers, but probably this means prior to 1971 people are saying? I don't know if this is true.

    Silver formed in 1971.

I think they formed in 1975, it was Batdorf and Rodney in 1971, but Brent played with them too, so I believe he was involved since 1971.

Well, I like it. But that's not the conventional wisdom.

Back on topic, I guess it would be weird for Vol. 28 to be '73 or '74 given the subject matter of the latest box.

I love that tune, lyrics so psychedelic.

Me & My Uncle is a great, badass song. Always loved it. Always will.

(although I’ve been enjoying it even more in recent years. All of the cowboy tunes, for that matter.)

I always thought that was Supplication:

Little bolt of coronation way you strike me now
Sparking my accession, got the lightning now
Cause me such excitation, got the coronation gown now
'bout to end my colonisation, come on strike me now
Little bolt of inspiration way you strike me now, she's back in my imagination

I love Picasso Moon! And Victim Or The Crime was always welcome once they finally got comfortable with playing it! Sign me up for Corrina and Eternity while you’re at it!

I like Me and My Uncle just fine, but never moreso than when it serves as the deviled ham in a Dark Star or The Other One sandwich (e.g., 8/6/71; 12/5/71, 4/24/72).

For standalone versions, look no further than DaP 11 (11/17/72). Jerry's guitar is cracklin', especially during his solo.

I read once that Brent said he played with B&R after they made their last album, so that would put it around 1975. (So they are just saying it will be a pre-1975 show in the U.S.?)

All I know is that it's going to contain one the best versions of a certain song from that year according to Dave.
