No links to YouTube for this one. I think we've all collectively blocked it out of our memories. Possibly the biggest selling a capella of the lot. Only found it by googling for examples. I'll whisper it.

Don't Worry Be Happy - Bobby McFerrin.

Well as some posters have already mentioned, The Beach Boys have many.

    'Sloop John B'
    'Soulful Old Man Sunshine'
    'Barbara Ann' (Intro)
    'I Get Around'
    'Our Prayer'
    'I can Hear Music'
    'Lady Lynda' (live version)

Most of these aren't "a cappella" ("Our Prayer" seems to be) which is solo singing without instrumental accompaniment. I had a similar problem with "Get a job" by The Silhouettes which in my mind was unaccompanied until I actually listened to it.

I think you find they have acapella parts in them which is what the OP was talking about. 'Our Prayer' is the only complete acapella one.

I had a quick listen. For instance I was convinced you were right with the start of "Barbara Ann" but in comes a tambourine after one bar and some more straight after that. Also live stuff, mostly Knebworth - there's nearly always some subtle instrumentation going on there even when you think they're on their own.

The Jeff beck Group's BBC cover of You'll never Get To heaven if You Break My Heart. Sorry, can't find a link for it.
    The harmonies are shockingly tight.

Next to The Beach Boys, Chicago's Cryan' Shames were rock's greatest choirboys.

There several a cappella passages on their wonderful A Scratch in the Sky album. Two that immediately come to mind are near the end of "A Carol for Lorelei" and the fade out of "I Was Lonely When."
