I have seen some vague reports of a new album being recorded in Rome recently. Also, yesterday, Stereogum and a few other sites reported that new U.S. tour dates appeared on Spotify. Please share any info you might have. Also, I'd really like to avoid negative comments about show cancellations, his political views, etc. I'm just looking for news.
Morrissey-Solo has some articles on those two issues. The people who post on that forum tend to have good scoops on Moz news: Boz Boorer interview in Die Presse (July 7, 2017), mentions working on new album Rumor: Morrissey U.S. concert dates (Oct. 3 - Nov. 3, 2017) listed on Spotify
https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/morrissey-pretenders-back-on-the-chain-gang-cover-748605/ Love it!! I'll be picking up the 45 - especially as there's a G.O'S song on the 'b'.
Is that confirmed? I know it was rumoured a while back but if The Pretenders song is now on a deluxe High School maybe that rumour turns out to be nothing more.
That’s not bad at all, he’s done a few good cover version during his solo career. It looks like the reissue of High School is vinyl or download only, so no purchase for me sadly.
His best song in a long time, but it’s hardly a treading new ground. And why a reissue of High School? Who else reissues albums a year after release? Oh Morrisey... I love that he’s playing guitar in the video, so at least there’s that.
The Morrissey Solo site has a news post from about a week ago. Apparently, the covers album, titled California Son, was confirmed in an interview, but no official announcement has been made.
I have always enjoyed the Cat Power "The Covers Record". Her renditions of the Velvet Underground song I Found A Reason and the Stones song Satisfaction are really cool and an inventive way of giving you a fresh way of hearing the songs. Her version of the Smog song Red Apples might surpass the original. As for this Morrissey cover, i am afraid it does not work for me, though it is something to see him with a guitar!
Like for Cat Power, and this great Morrissey Cover. Bonnie Prince Billy also does some great covers. The 6LP covers of Grateful Dead by the National etc. Also brilliant.
