Actually .. it is only really fairly recently i actually started participating in the forum, but now my memory is tweaked.....
I sometimes looked at stuff on here before i really understood what it was.
The forum gave me important info on
    King crimson
    Yes
    Gentle giant
Through randomly hitting it, when searching for info. Great place, home away from home.
    Thanks folks

Way too many to name, I've been here off and on for a very long time, near the beginning, and the new music threads here have become a truly valuable resource in recent times, especially since many members are coming from the same older perspective as me, with a ton of baggage and history, just aren't many sites like that, highly grateful for all the amazing discoveries, can only hope I've tossed out one or two myself. Keep the music alive, and keep looking for and talking about all those amazing albums that missed the spotlight, new and old.

Two that come immediately to mind:

    Hem, and their wonderful vocalist Sally Ellyson, one of the finest female singers I've heard;
and another terrific female singer, Joey Feek of Joey + Rory, who I discovered through a thread from Brad Olsen when they were undergoing Joey's cancer ordeal.

Quite a handful from the "obscure '60s songs you love to share with people" thread.

Steven Wilson, who is now one of my top ten favs.

King Crimson, who I like a lot but not anywhere near the top ten.

The Alan Parsons Project, who is also in (or very near) my top ten.

    Thanks forum!

There have been a fair few & even more that I already was aware of but have delved deeper into than I had in the past.
Most recent that springs to mind is Eilen Jewell.

Yes I love the 1st two albums. Some write them off as yes ripoff but they have a cool sound almost like smooth prog or prog lite.

I discovered how good some earlier beach boys songs are from this forum. I usually only heard pet sounds and smiley smile.

Hadn't really heard of Love before here. A lot of hype behind them convinced me to acquire the MFSL SACD's. Remain kind of non-plussed, but maybe there will be an inclination to try again.
