A friend of mine once said that you have to put on "different ears" when listening to different music genres. Very true. That also goes for different views/conceptions on how to play music.

Your comment is logical but the cited comment is not. They specifically say "shrill string dominated sound despite the PI ensemble". And they start by saying "I keep thinking I will like these recordings but when I listen I hate them." Well if you like silken vibrato filled strings I guess so.

I do have the HIP Schumann Symphonies by JEG in the following box, though I did not go out of my way to get the box just to own those symphonies ...

    BACH Goldberg Variations LARS VOGT

Never understood the great popularity of these variations. They're charming enough but I can't concur with those who say they're among the best things Back ever wrote. But if you want a version post-Gould you won't go wrong with this disc. Very well rendered.

IIRC, the Musical Offering is considered by many as the pinnacle of Bach's composition. I have the following 3 versions of that work ...

Not sure what has caused the surge of Bach GV recordings over the past few years, as pianists, both well-known and not so well-known have been cranking out the recordings ...

Got me, too. The Savall looks intriguing.

Don't have this version but have the following SACD version. Looks like it may only be available in redbook version now. I also have two older recordings by Leppard and Harnoncourt on CD ...

I bought my two LP versions by Leppard years ago ...

I see it now, 13 minutes later, if that helps. (But, at the same time, I don't see it in @J.A.W.'s post)
