I think we'll be getting only a handful of those

    Possibly

    - Abbey Road
    - Tommy
    - In The Court of the Crimson King
    - A Salty Dog
    - Arthur

    And a few others

There's no way in the world that we'll be getting, for example 'More' or 'Ummagumma' from Floyd

My guess: Blind Faith with the live audio from Hyde Park, Abbey Road, Tommy with a Live show and demos; Liege & Lief, Let it Bleed, Aoxomoxoa and Arthur.

Crosby Stills & Nash is the big one that comes to mind.

Not sure what, if anything is left in the vault to make an expanded edition beyond what's already been released on deluxe sets and compilations, but I wouldn't be surprised if CSN issued something.

  5. Not everything is going to get a lavish 50th anniversary release. We saw many important and once popular albums not receive 50th anniversary reissues in 2018, much less deluxe editions.

The market has shrunk where if a label doesn't think they can charge $100 for a release, it's not getting anything.

How about boxing all three of the albums Fairport Convention released in 1969, adding whatever bonus or BBC extras. They can call it "1969.'

I think we'll see Abbey Road, ;the first two Zeppelin albums ; Blind Faith -- but how much is left that hasn't come out? Ditto for Crimson King.

I don't think they'll be anything for Empty Sky--though I'd be interested in hearing it.

I think the Elton John 50th Anniversary series--you know they'll do it-- will begin in earnest in 2020 with Elton John (1970)

I've said this on similar threads--I'd like to see a Elton BBC Collection.

Didn't Neil Young's self-titled debut come out in November of 1968--and then was quickly pulled--only to come out in January '69?
    Never got it straight.

Did CCR really release three albums that year?

I can see Abbey Road and Tommy as 50th releases.

Though the album was not released until a little later, this August will be he 5oth anniversary of Woodstock. I'd have to imagine that this will be made into a big deal.

Tommy needs a new reissue, I don't think that one has been reissued since the mid-90s? [/irony] (How's that for late 90s Internet humour?)

Seriously, out of these, I'd love to see 50th anniversary sets with surround mixes for

    Sly - Stand
Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left
Stones - Let It Bleed (but it's not gonna happen)
Santana - Quad mix exists and soooo ripe for reissue
ABB - the Idlewild South Deluxe was excellent, not sure if the original multitracks allow quite as good a surround mix for this one though
LZ I and II - but again, not too likely to happen

King Crimson already announced a box for In The Court Of The Crimson King

    Abbey Road seems obvious enough.

We know The Grateful Dead's Aoxomoxoa is getting the deluxe treatment (Live/Dead too I assume.)

I could see The Moody Blues' On The Threshold Of A Dream and To Our Children's Chrildren's Children getting something like the previous two albums did.

Maybe time for Trout Mask Replica to be widely available again...

Tommy has already been done, deluxe and super deluxe box in 2013.
S.F. Sorrow (UK 1968, US 1969) has been done as an expanded edition in both mono and stereo and again this year as a box set with the 1998 reunion concert.
Court of the Crimson King is coming, but again it's already been done as a deluxe and super deluxe, both in 2009.
Maybe Blind Faith or A Salty Dog, but we already have deluxe editions of those, 2001 and 2015.
Mott the Hoople is releasing an expanded box set of their first four albums shortly.
Quicksilver released a box set of all their albums in 2015. Plus there are many new-ish live albums plus a couple of rarities albums, so I doubt they'll be much more.
The obvious one is Abbey Road.
But I'd much rather see a comprehensive box set of the four Joe Walsh James Gang albums with the Zachariah tracks, unreleased stuff, demos, the Little Richard jams and the complete Carnegie Hall concert from 1971. Plus a remastered double CD of their terrific 2001 Cleveland reunion concerts (bootlegged ever since) along with whatever good show(s) they have from the 2006 reunion tour. The Dallas and New York shows were killer. And toss in the French Pop 2 show and Beat Club material on DVD.
AND a comprehensive box set of Steppenwolf s/t thru For Ladies Only remastered with all the bonus goodies we've all come to expect. Along with one of the 1971 or 1972 live shows remastered and a DVD of all the extant TV and live videos.

Moody Blues 50th for both albums could be a bit of an endeavor, just due to the lack of anything left in the vaults..

  22. Given what a mess the Moby Grape catalog is what with their manager still around to sue them for changing their underpants, etc. I have to wonder if putting together a deluxe would even be considered.
