    Examples of when they rereleased an album and messed around with the artwork making it worse.

    For example. From this:

    Woof.
    Any more good (or in this case bad) examples?

    I'm not entirely sure that's worse, to be honest.

    I found this one to be more egregious to be honest.

    I can see why. But this one fits the Thriller concept at least. But maybe there were songs about baby tigers I can't remember.

    The latest Phil Collins deluxe edition remasters where his 80’s album covers that have his face on them are replaced with how he looks present day. Quite creepy, and the original covers weren’t great to begin with.

    They should have done them as lenticular sleeves.

    Morrissey's 'Kill Uncle' is the first that comes to mind. It's not a great album, and the cover's nothing special, but it's a lot better than the pointless expanded edition remaster;

    Agreed. I was always so busy looking at the dude in the tube in the lower right corner that I never really noticed the machine was a robot's 'face'.

    mmmm.....I could see why they wanted to change the original....but not sure they succeeded it making it more desirable.....

    Just stumbled across this co-incidentally. It seems Paddy McAloon's great I Trawl the Megahertz is being remastered, and re-released and rebranded as a Prefab Sprout album in February. While the new cover isn't awful, I don't think it has the understated simplicity of the original.

    I don't know how to post it here, but the 20th anniversary CD of Dark Side of the Moon where they changed this iconic cover. A travesty! And on top of that it sounded like crap. At least the postcards were cool.

    My pleasure. There's also a dedicated thread that I was going to post this in until I saw that I'd been beaten to it…

    I thought how Led Zeppelin changed the color scheme on their special editions was really bad.

    I had no problem with the slipcover. And as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

    I always hated the colorized Rykodisc cover for David Bowie's Station to Station. It loses all of the stark coldness and austerity of the original black, white and red original album cover, which fit in so well with the music. Thankfully, the original cover was restored with the 2010 reissue.
