    Surrealistic Pillow (Jefferson Airplane)

    SIDE ONE
    My Best Friend
    Comin' Back To Me
    How Do You Feel
    Today
    D.C.B.A.-25
    Embryonic Journey

    SIDE TWO
    White Rabbit
    Plastic Fantastic Lover
    Somebody To Love
    3/5 Of A Mile In 10 Seconds
    She Has Funny Cars

All the folk rockers in the first side and all the acid rockers in the second side, opening the album with arguably the weakest track and then continuing with the fine but longest and slowest number.

The Doors: Waiting For The Sun (1968)

    SIDE ONE
    The Unknown Soldier
    My Wild Love
    Not To Touch The Earth
    Wintertime Love
We Could Be So Good Together

    SIDE TWO
    Yes, The River Knows
    Spanish Caravan
    Five To One
    Love Street
    Hello, I Love You

What a mess I've turned this into. If this had been the running order, then I might understand the criticisms of this album! But thankfully, it wasn't. Thus it remains my favorite.

Most of these although not optimal, would still work because a lot of these albums have no bad tracks for me.

Maybe Double Fantasy ... I think the track order is important to this one
(only available on cd and unprogrammable)

    Give me Something
    Kiss Kiss Kiss
    Dear Yoko
    I'm Moving on
    I'm losing you
    Beautiful boys
    Beautiful boy (darling boy)
    Woman
    Hard times Are over
    Clean up time
    (just like) Starting over
    Hard times are over

    Frampton Comes Alive (1976)

    SIDE ONE
Do You Feel Like We Do
    Something's Happening
    Penny For Your Thoughts

    SIDE TWO
I Wanna Go To The Sun
    (I'll Give You) Money
    Show Me The Way
All I Want To Be (Is By Your Side)

    SIDE THREE
    Jumpin Jack Flash
    Wind Of Change
    Lines On My Face

    SIDE FOUR
    Shine On
    Baby I Love Your Way
    It's A Plain Shame
    Doobie Wah

Yet another album I dearly love, which I tried to wreck. I tried to keep zero fluidity between the electric and acoustic numbers, so hopefully I succeeded. :)

And, of course, there would be no crowd fade-out at the end of any side. The track would just abruptly cut off.

    This sure is fun.

    You're actually right!

I mentioned on my "Wrecked Billion Dollar Babies" offering that one would be amazed at how hard it actually is to make a great album bad.

If I was going to "fubar" Led Zeppelin III, I think it would look something like this:

    Side 1
    Since I've Been Loving You
    Hats Off (To Roy Harper)
    Friends
    Bron-Y-Aur Stomp
    Out On The Tiles

    Side 2
    Celebration Day
    Gallows Pole
    Tangerine
    That's The Way
    Immigrant Song

The original UK pressing screws this album up even more than the tracklists here can ever do. It actually does start with My Best Friend and doesn't include White Rabbit!

This is how to mess up a classic album and it actually happened...

    Here's another 'un:

Shakey had initially intended to release 74's On The Beach with Side B as Side A and Side A as Side B. That album is a masterpiece, and although he's generally flawless with regard to quality control, he was right to acquiesce to David Briggs' insistence upon flipping the sides. Can you imagine if OTB opened with that narcotic and hazy (and brilliant) eponymous track before sliding deeper with "Motion Pictures" and "Ambulance Blues?" WRECKED FLOW all the way if Shakey'd had his druthers.
