Bear with me as I explain my pick.

As someone who used to recoil from traditional Christmas music (10 years working retail will do that to ya) I always looked to alternative means to get my "holiday" fix. This album was a Christmas gift and featured The Nutrocker (a rockin' Nutcracker Suite cover) so I've always associated it with the holiday. It is an annual favorite.

First up is this one for me. The Camden version which kicks off with "Blue Christmas". It's always the first Christmas record that I spin each year.

Beatles White Album and George Harrison All Things Must Pass. I remember receiving those as Christmas presents as a teenager.

The crystalline beauty of her voice is perfect for many of the selections here, and the arrangements and instrumental accompaniments are sublime. From 1966.

Christmas with the California Raisins (1988)

It's actually great Christmas soul music, sung by Buddy Miles. As you say, it's not Christmas until I hear the Raisins. :)

Somehow "Santa Claus & His Old Lady" is still very funny to me. "...And this would get the reindeer off???" I think my Christmas isn't Christmas without _______
answer would be the Gene Autry version of "Rudolph The Red-Nose Reindeer." Love the sound of that track.

In the UK there used to be a saying ''Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without Cliff'.
Cliff Richard was famous for putting out Christmas singles.

In recent years -- whatever rerelease or repackaging the Beatles have put out that year. (!)

On a more serious note -
Nat King Cole - The Christmas Song LP

I'd also say Waitresses - "Christmas Wrapping" -- but for some reason last year I only heard it once, on a radio station of Christmas Eve.
(I don't play a lot of Christmas music by myself - it's too isolating to listen to it by oneself -- I prefer to listen to it with a group of people, or with a (virtual) group such as a radio station audience)
