Can't do it. I just can't be happy if I'm not fairly close. I'm too spoiled by good tickets!

Nah...was hoping for more of a 50th anniversary of Let It Bleed. Would be MUCH better.

Will 2006 end up being the last time they play the Pacific Northwest or Western Canada? In 2015 all rumours were Seattle Stadium show to open, then San Diego got announced.

Unless you are a Fortune 500 CEO throwing a $5mil party, then good luck with that principle. The choice is attending in a stadium sized venue or watching on youtube.

Didn't they make an original material album in 2016? Not the covers one.

For me, it's: leg room, sound, and I'm not going to get beaten up.

    I'm weird that way.

You'll probably have more leg room on the field - and the sound will almost certainly be better than in the nosebleeds, where you'll get all sorts of echo.

Also... beaten up? Dude, this isn't Altamont. People who pay $400 a ticket aren't gonna start a mosh pit!

The experience in the nosebleeds at a stadium is terrible. Usually bad sound, can't see anything other than the video screen, etc. I find it impossible to invest in a show when I'm that detached from the band...

There's a rumor of a date during Jazz Fest in Nola, too. That would be wild - when's the last time they played an open festival like that?

I don’t agree. I went with some old childhood friends to see Bruno Mars’ homecoming show at Aloha Stadium in Hawaii last weekend, and enjoyed it quite a bit. Like a Stones stadium show, or a great festival, it had the feeling of an “event”, a musical experience that you share with good friends/family and the other 50,000 people in attendance.

Hey, if you can enjoy being in those seats, more power to you!

I can't. Over the years, I've gotten very accustomed to good seats and I just know that there's a zero percent chance I'd enjoy a stadium show from that vantage point...

Anywhere is better than FedEx. One way in, one way out........literally. I saw Paul McCartney there in August of 2009. I heard the exiting of the area was awful from football fans. We left while Carry That Weight/The End was playing. I have seen Paul numerous times so I wasn't so upset.

Depends on what's above and behind you. An overhang over your head is good in case of rain; not so much for sound. Basically anything rising behind your section up there is not good.

My only no-go zone in a stadium for purposes of SQ is rear of field or front-stage lowers at "six o'clock". Of course things can go wrong anywhere, but those areas are guaranteed to be a bad time. Wouldn't do that for an evening for free.

My story stems from the Meadowlands. Any questions?

In a stadium, "detached" is about everywhere except a small semi-circle drawn from the singer's mic. What pays the bills is the butts in the upstairs seats. Call me a patron of the arts.

I went to that show and had zero problems entering/leaving, but IIRC, there was a massive traffic snarl ahead of the show. I think it affected people coming south, and I came north, so it didn't get me.

At least FedEx didn't charge for concert parking then - now they want like $60 a car!

I just park at the nearest Metro station and walk over. It's a little less than a mile - not a quick walk but beats the crap out of paying $60!

I've been to dozens of Meadowlands shows and never got beaten up. I must just be more intimidating than you so ruffians stay away! :D

Seriously, the chances of a brawl when you're among people who paid $400 a ticket - and who are probably in their 50s and older - seem minimal.

Just as good a chance - if not better - you'll get into a fight with the Great Unwashed in the cheap seats!

Why does it always have to be the stadiums?

I love The Rolling Stones - but they're supposed to be The World's Greatest Rock and Roll Band, not the Greatest Show on Earth. Increasingly, their stadium tours seem like naked cash grabs - fill the joint up, play the hits, sell some t-shirts. Fireworks!

As a fan, I'd love to see the Stones try something different - maybe a residency somewhere, like the Beacon Theater in NYC. Ditch the explosions and giant video screens. Expand the set lists so they aren't so freaking predictable - I love "Brown Sugar" as much as anything they've done, but I'd KILL to hear "Casino Boogie" or "Miss Amanda Jones".

Yeah, I know this is a lot of wishful thinking...but I can't help thinking that the Stones' stadium shows are becoming their Elvis White Jumpsuit, a cliche that will come to define them as much as their music.

Because, when you currently are the last standing World's Greatest Rock and Roll Band. You have a huge fan base that can fill Stadiums.

All of that would be nice of course. But the whole reason that these two tours are working for the band is because it is in stadiums where they can fit in the most people at one time. Otherwise they'd have to do several shows in a row filling up an arena. The beauty of the new touring strategy is that they're keeping the number of shows on the tour relatively small.

On top of that they're keeping the setlists stapled in permanently as a greatest hits run with maybe two or three obscure songs. That then cuts down on the rehearsal time for the band. They used to devote weeks to work on a huge number of obscure songs to rotate in but that's been cut down now considerably.

All these factors combined is what makes touring so much more appealing for the band now at this age. Probably less appealing for the hardcore fan but I guess we are more of minority compared to the general fan that the Stones are aiming these tours for.
