This poignant song by Mark Knopfler stirs the Christmas spirit in me:

Even though I've always been a Beatles fanatic, I prefer Hilary Duff's 2003 cover. She and her producers turn it into Hollywood pop-punk, but I think it works. For me, anyway.

I'm not sure there's any one song or album I HAVE to hear every year but I usually end up digging out this chestnut from Utterly Utterly Live sometime around Christmastime:

It isn't Christmas until I hear Little Saint Nick by the Beach Boys, on the radio preferably although anywhere I encounter it outside my own stereo system is fine.

It is just not Christmas without this classic Living Stereo album from 1959 by the highly underrated John Klein. I had a small hand in getting this released and remastered for CD by Real Gone Music, along with Mr. Klein's splendid follow-up holiday album from 1964. I also wrote the liner notes for this one of a kind album that features almost 1500 bronze caste bells and a stellar Billy May inspired orchestra.
