    Born 1965 (for perspective)
    Wards phonograph (suitcase like) 1969ish
Upgraded to BSR phono graph - 1973ish better
Upgraded to Technics SL220 (1976ish) - way better switch to turntable from phonograph - wow! Empire Cart and some Pacific Stereo cheap phono preamp.
Upgraded to Technics SL1210 M5G (2009) - way better as old table was noisy
Upgraded to VPI Classic - content and happy now.

In the 70's I recall my dad, brothers (3) had Garrards zeros, Dual - and that was it - they didn't keep changing them.

Sure it is fun to - but back then you had your table and that was it.

I had a Mickey Mouse turnyable when I was very small. The tonearm was Mickey's arm with the stylus under his paw. Mice have paws, right? It was a gloved paw.

    snorker Big Daddy

    Born in 1974.

From the start I used my dad’s Garrard belt drive from 1969-70 or so. I don’t remember the model, but it was nothing particularly special. I also had my own Fisher Price record player, which I loved. Listened to many a Disney book and record and other kids records along with my dad’s Beatles and Stones stuff. I loved Abbey Road and Some Girls from childhood.

I abandoned records altogether for cassettes in the mid-late 80s, and then CDs in about ‘89-90 when I bought a Discman.

I didn’t return to records until 2014 when I bought a Clearaudio Concept, first paired with an Ortofon 2M Bronze and then a Clearaudio Concept MC.

Last year I upgraded to a Technics SL-1200G and I alternate between a Benz Micro Wood SL and a KAB Ortofon Concorde Pro S with 40 stylus. I really enjoy this setup.

Oh I forgot the Fisher Price. Had one of those too. I used to play my Dad's records on it. I still remember playing The Wall on it. No lie.
