The breadth of this pair's songwriting is just insane. A match made in heaven.

Do you think that they will share the stage together? I don’t think anyone has guested with Bob since Mark Knopfler.

Although with Stu Kimball having mysteriously disappeared, there is room for another guitarist.....

I am definitely going for this!!! I tried clicking on VIP tickets which said are available from 24th November but it's not taking me to the correct page. Anyone have luck with those? Need to make sure I don't miss out on these tickets!!

    Mini "oldchella" in London.

I hope Neil is going on after Bob, judging by recent live performances. Like Oldchella, Bob should be doing his most well regarded songs more than the "standards" sets he's been doing in recent years.

Another big question is how Bob will deal with the video screens for 70,000. Sometimes he let's a normal crew do their thing, sometimes it's 1-2 super weird camera angles and sometimes he shuts them off or they random public domain footage of old westerns.

I guess Nils is busy with his other band and it's legacy songwriter next summer...

Says there's a Ticketmaster presale Thu 29th @9.00 Tickets: British Summer Time - Bob Dylan and Neil Young, London | Fri 12 Jul 2019 @ 1:00 pm | Ticketmaster UK

Assuming that means it's open to anyone with a Ticketmaster account but I haven't seen anything from them.

Having seen both artists in the last couple of years I'd say that Neil + POTR will be very well suited to a big outdoor venue like Hyde Park. Bob - well maybe. He'd need to go for a festival setlist (no Sinatra covers thanks very much) and a bit more communication and energy. Mind you, he is Bob Dylan though.

Have just got tickets for myself and 3 happy friends this way - and you get 10% discount too. It's the one time a year it's useful to have a Barclaycard! Worked for The Cure last year as well.

Dylan was good the 2nd weekend for Desert Trip(AKA Oldchella).

  19. For Bob fans probably one to be avoided to be honest.

Hyde Park shows attract a strange mixture of audiences - many will be there just to be able to say they were there.

There will be a considerable expectation to be able to sing-a-long to faithful and clearly enunciated renditions of Bob's greatest hits and a not unlikely voicing of discontent, when the maestro doesn't oblige.

    'Where's his guitar?

    'What's with the piano?'

'When's he going to play Blowin' with the Times?'

You told me he'd play 'Rollin' Like A Stone!!

    :shake:

I'd dearly love to see Bob again but not in this environment.

    Best Wishes,
    David

I have seen Bob and Neil many a time over the decades and know what to expect.

Neil is always stunning and Bob can still surprise me!

This is a gig not to be missed for me!

IMO, it's the only place to see Dylan do a fan friendly set from here on out. Show like this or Desert Trip when he's actually given 7 figures for a single show. In theory, it could also be a future video release as he doesn't allow cameras around very often.

    Dylan's 2nd week Desert Trip/Oldchella setlist in 2016.

01 Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 (Bob on piano)
02 Don't Think Twice, It's All Right (Bob on piano)
03 Highway 61 Revisited (Bob on piano)
04 It's All Over Now, Baby Blue (Bob on piano)
05 High Water (for Charley Patton) (Bob center stage)
06 Simple Twist Of Fate (Bob center stage with harp)
07 Early Roman Kings (Bob on piano)
08 Love Sick (Bob center stage)
09 Tangled Up In Blue (Bob center stage then on piano with harp)
10 Lonesome Day Blues (Bob on piano)
11 Make You Feel My Love (Bob on piano)
12 Pay In Blood (Bob center stage)
13 Desolation Row (Bob on piano)
14 Soon After Midnight (Bob on piano)
15 Ballad Of A Thin Man (Bob center stage, then on piano)
    ------
16 Like A Rolling Stone (Bob on piano)
17 Why Try To Change Me Now (Bob center stage)

That's my fear too. That and the endless stream of beer-carriers.

Seeing these two together would be fantastic, in ideal conditions.

Unfortunately Neil's last Hyde Park gig (2014) was full of people there for a "day out" or to see one of the opening acts. So even in the first few rows, it was quite difficult to concentrate on the music with all the drunken chatter going on.

I'm not convinced Bob is well suited to these large outdoor shows. He still sounds awesome in arenas or smaller halls, standing in the shadows with his voice echoing off the walls. It's easy for the subtleties of his performance (and the mystique of his persona) to get lost outdoors in front of a festival crowd.

Neil demonstrated in May this year at the Warnors theater that he is still a fantastic performer, but that was with Crazy Horse.

So I think personally I will wait to see if any more Dylan dates are announced before committing to this one.

I saw Dylan play Hyde Park back in 96 along with Eric Clapton and The Who performing Quadrophenia with an cast that included Dave Gilmour and Gary Glitter (together at last!) The tickets for that day cost £8, so at twelve times the entry coupled with it being a fairly awful venue, i'll wait for the show to be hopefully screened in some form on Sky Arts.
