If I've missed your question, please ask again, this thread has become a bit confusing to my cellphone.

I know that "Junior's Farm" had some heavy EQ work on Wings' Greatest (hence the thin sound compared to the 45 and even the new Archive remaster). Did any of the tracks escape less-than-desirable EQ?

What is your impression of the White Album reissue? Are you satisfied with what Giles Martin has done?

Steve, can you tell us about the mastering of Country Joe & the Fish - Electric Music for the Mind and Body for Pure Pleasure, is it from the master tapes or from a remix?

If a Verve recording was recorded by anyone other than Val Valentine and the album indicates Val's name as the director of engineering, should we guess that the 2track mixdown was done by Val?

An example is Oscar Peterson's We Get Request.

Right from the original two track with no EQ or compression added.

I have a couple of questions for you Steve:

    1. I have the Muddy Waters At Newport cd that you mastered. It’s in stereo, while as far as i can tell all the early vinyl pressings are in mono. Is there a dedicated mono mix of the album? If so, is there a particular reason the cd is in stereo?

    2. Do you know if there are dedicated mono mixes for Muddy Waters Sings ”Big Bill” and/or Folk Singer?

    3. Do you know if there is a dedicated mono mix of B.B King - Live At Regal?

    4. Have you heard the original cd mastering of Warren Zevon s/t? If so, what do you think of it?

Supposedly there aren't any good sounding Shangri-Las CD's, which is a shame, but are there any compilations that have at least a good mastering of their biggest hits like "Leader of the Pack," "Remember (Walking in the Sand)" and "Give Him a Great Big Kiss"? (Either in mono or stereo, though the original mono 45 mixes is preferable.)

    Here's one.
The Time - Life legendary singers set from 1985.
Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald are among those done.
Apparently these were half speed mastered at Capitol.
    • Do you know if transfers were done digitally or are these all-analog jobs?
They look like a lot of thought and care went into them.

Steve, I like your work on Deep Purple albums very much. Are there any chances to hear Burn and Come Taste The Band with your mastering?

@Steve Hoffman You wrote this in regard to Oscar Peterson's We Get Request.
Are 'murk & goosh' derived from the inherent sound of the original Ampex two-track machinme? Or did Bob Simpson add them deliberately on the redux?

Analog cut from dupes but should sound good if they pulled the right sources..
