(I really only use Spotify when I'm driving)

I'm adventurous. I "listen to non-mainstream artists 66% more than the average Spotify listener." Apparently.

I only listen at work, but I also have a lot of CDs ripped to my computer, so this is pretty limited but it looks good enough.

Only when I'm working on my personal computer as I have transfered almost 75% of my CD collection to mp3
So I use it when I want to hear something new or albums I still don't own, but I really like it.

You can see your top 100 most played songs of the year on your account. Navigate to the "Made for You" section and your custom "Top Songs of 2018" playlist will be at the bottom. But to get the numbers and genre breakdowns and such, you need to use the link.

Pretty sure Spotify does not count local files toward these totals. There is no way I listened to 35,000 minutes of music and my friend (who used Tidal for about 4 months) listened to 70,000 minutes.

My stats are completely jacked up due to a problem I kept having where some garbage rap act called Cannibus Club ATL kept randomly playing. It says I listened to them for more than 12 hours, all of my top songs are theirs, etc. They were playing in the background and stuff sometimes without me even knowing. The crazy thing is this happened to others with the same exact artist. They must've hijacked some accounts or something. It didn't stop until I changed my password.

These are always entertaining for me as Spotify is not my main source of listening. But here were my top artists for 2018:

    Paul McCartney
    Jim Gaffigan
    Elvis Presley
    Aretha Franklin
    Alice Cooper

Minutes listened = 2,640 (Apparently 6 hours of which were listening to Egypt Station.)

I listened to 599 songs. Gotta listen to one more now to get that to an even 600!

I received truly bizarre stats. Yet another reason why I don’t give Spotify statistics all that much weight. My Spotify listening revolves almost exclusively around playlists I’ve made for each year from ‘64-‘80. There’s no way The Groundhogs would have more play time than say, The Beatles, The Stones, Bowie, The Kinks etc. all of whom have all lot more albums in the playlists. Also, I’ve never heard of “Delph Topwn Warrior” or “One Hundred Thousand...”

I agree, I don't think their metrics are perfect. I wish there was a way that I could see how many times I played each individual song. iTunes lets you do that and I always loved that feature. My top five songs of the year features four different songs from Sunflower by the Beach Boys. I know I played that album quite a bit, but I can think of several songs I wore out individually that I know I played more often than I did Sunflower.

My top five artist listens seem accurate: Thelonious Monk, Sinatra, Sun Ra, Miles Davis, and Fleetwood Mac (though I'm a little surprised that some more recent discoveries haven't edged out FM, whose catalogue I explored for only about a week). The top 5 songs, though, were almost all titles I didn't even recognize, and the one I did was not something I listened to more than once or twice. It didn't list the artist or genre for the songs, so I really have no idea what they were. I wonder if they only count songs you listen to without listening to any other songs on the album, which would be more likely to end up being things I didn't like enough to explore further.

It claimed I listen to non-mainstream artists 111% more than the average listener.
