this must stop. It truly detracts from the erstwhile authenticity by coffee drinkers who have handled a full cup. Delete if already a thread,i did not research. At all.

So hot, in fact, there should be a warning/disclaimer! Never mind gun control or climate change!

Seriously, I've become sensitized to seeing these empty cups carelessly handed around with little finesse - demonstrating they are empty! And then a mighty gulp...

Just so we're speaking the same language, are you talking about characters pantomiming drinking coffee out of empty cups covered with logos from Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, Metro PCS (or, in the case of Murphy Brown, Jitterbug Direct :D )?

My pet peeve is when the name of a telephone company is printed on the handset of the phone, usually on the mouthpiece so when the character is talking you see the logo right there right by their mouth.

It exists nowhere in the world except in movies and television shows.

Which is doubly ironic, because how many years did cellphone earpieces never even reach an ear...:wtf:

It's right up there with credit/debit cards being swiped upside down in commercials.

Most stock photography agencies are populated exclusively by drooling mongoloids. It's the only possible explanation for things like this:

Of course my real pet peeve (although to be honest, I don't just have a pet peeve, I have a whole menageries of peeves, with an extensive peeve breeding program) is photographers and models who have no idea how microphones work.

For instance, Elvis knew how to sing into the classic Shure "Potato Masher" 55SH microphone. The image is so iconic that it was made into a stamp:

...so why are stock photo archives filled with photos of people singing into the wrong end!

    [IMG] [IMG]

This is as idiotic as steering a car with your feet!

If you tour Sun Studios, they actually instruct you how to hold the mic correctly for pictures.

My pet peeve: Why is it that in movies and TV when someone's in bed asleep and they get a phone call in the middle of the night, they always turn on the light? What.....they don't know how to talk in the dark?!!!

How about in the movies and on TV when someone is driving a car and talking to someone in the passenger seat, the driver always looks over at the passenger while talking, as if he can't talk and watch the road at the same time.
