Calling all BUtThOLe SuRferS fans: James Burns, author of Let’s Go to Hell; Scattered memories of the Butthole Surfers, was just featured on the Let it Roll podcast. Worth a listen if you are so inclined!
Thanks. I wonder what my friend was talking about -maybe he was talking about the Melvins who are playing here tomorrow? I was sure he was alluding to a former member of BHS touring with a band, but that kind of lines up with the Melvins being on tour and Pinkus playing with them I suppose.
The Melvins just released Pinkus Abortion Technician where they cover “Graveyard” and “Moving To Florida”.
I just got Rembrant Pussyhorse. Super cool. Lots of chanty type songs. Droney music. I really like it. Thanks all.
Bold words, manco, and entirely wrong on your part. I hadn’t heard of JPJ before he produced their album!
Hardbound book up for preorder at melodic virtue. Also includes a flexi with unreleased track. Kinda spendy , but I think I’ll spring for the deluxe and the shirt... This link work? Butthole Surfers
Paul said ‘no new album’ over on their bhs forums. I guess Gibby just wasn’t as enthusiastic as we were all hoping.
Man, I’d be happy with an instrumental/ Paul vocal album at this point! Anyone heard the Cocky Bitches album with Paul in guitar? Only heard the 7” so far.
A flexi-disc! C'mon, at the price they're asking this should have been a double sided VINYL single with Human Cannonball (maybe a different mix?) on the a-side (just like originally intended when first announced all those years ago as an upcoming Touch and Go label release.)
I agree, Double sided, butthole brown vinyl, with picture sleeve. And throw the shirt in with the deluxe package. It looks like only 1500 (1000 regular/ 500 deluxe) were made and they do look well printed. I’m sure the cost was pretty high to make, although I don’t really know. I am a sucker for the butthole, so just preordered the hole caboodle.
...that’s a bummer. I thought it was happening already. Oh well, at least we have all those classics to listen to for eternity.
Not a huge fan but I have reissues of their first 3 LPs. I've got LAT on deck to listen to again soon. Weird band, enjoy them when I'm in the mood.
Any more word on remasters? I will say the current pressing of Hairway sounds very nice on vinyl. Sure it is digital but nice sound.
