Isn't that an error for WYWH? Stereo mix by Guthrie?

It could be misleading and imply 2 different things....

    Mixed for 5.1 surround
And stereo from the original analogue master tapes by ....

IIRC, Guthrie didn't create a new stereo mix at the time of the release of the original SACD. If there was a new one on this release that would be a big surprise.

I have fully come around to AHM being part of the classic run. I even think Ummagumma is on the fringe. I really do enjoy the majority of it.

This could mean that WYWH is just a plain reissue, but Dark Side of The Moon could be a new mastering? (unlike WYWH, no info about mastering yet)

    Definitely.
I love all their albums. I just think there is a style change. Ummagumma is in the old style somewhat and Atom Heart Mother somewhat introduces the seventies style .. idk just thoughts

Yep...and The Man/The Journey brilliantly bridges the two together.

Right on! Hopefully Animals and DSOTM match the dimensions of the WYWH SACD release.

    Must have order.

Since there seems to be issues with The Wall tapes, what would/should be the next hi-res release?

I'm not sure what you are reading into that advert that I don't see.

WYWH is a straight repress of the SACD from years ago. The Stereo mix surely refers to the Stereo CD Hybrid layer on the disc non?

The wording makes it seem like Guthrie also re-mixed the stereo part of the disc, which he did not.

"Mixed for 5.1 surround sound and stereo from the original analogue master tapes by Pink Floyd Producer/Engineer James Guthrie."

Yeah, it is poorly worded, but I am positive it is just a straight repress.

Moving on then, I'm very keen to get hold of Animals SACD in 5.1 without some overblown boxset faff with some badges and stickers and crap inside.

DSOTM in that advert might end up being the same as the Blu-Ray in the boxset. Was that different than the prior SACD for this album? Better or worse?

Same poor wording regarding a stereo re-mix used for DSOTM in the link Sigma6 posted above!

Hopefully just a placeholder! I thought Roger mentioned updated artwork for Animals (and I would’ve assumed the old SACD artwork for DSOTM). I also noticed the new WYWH has a different catalog number than my original one; these three are all sequential, so hopefully they are planning to round out a few more titles (eventually)?

Okay then. DSOTM SACD up for pre-order.

    Any sign of Animals?

Regarding Dark Side, the first SACD = the blu-ray in the Immersion set and probably is the same mix as what will be released here soon. Why would they do the 5.1 over again?

If Meddle is the next release 5.1 then it will probably have to redone by Guthrie.

  23. I’d like to know definitively too. Not as cut and dry as the WYWH repress.

I wonder if they will put "Limited Edition" on the spine of the re-issue of Wish You Were Here SACD like they did the last time.

True, but for Meddle, Guthrie would most likely just need to re-mix it, since a new mix was done so recently, whereas any other album would probably need to have the tapes cleaned up and prepared first.
