Somebody mentioned that Paul's inner circle should have a word with him about releasing the likes of this new song..I merely pointed out that they [the inner circle] should be more concerned about mentioning to him about the state of his live singing .Especially doing songs like 'Maybe I'm Amazed' and '1985' on a nightly basis.

Which is just a generic blues/rock riff, which wasn't anything new in 1968. As generic as 'Who Cares', indeed.

Autotune is far from new... (I just think it's massively over-done and abused to the hilt)
Now a vocoder being used would of been pretty neat!

Of Course you are entitled to your opinion. However making up stuff in your head about 'plagiarism' is another thing.

This track fortunately is not on Egypt Station and is not of the style and quality of the album. Don't let it put you off the album which is rather good.

20 years from now this will be seen as a futuristic classic much like “Temporary Secretary” was.

Now this is more like it!

Just wait for the RSD 7" single release for £25 in dye-puke yellow with a poster of Paul counting his money from the £120 White Album boxset sales, then you'll be all over this because its Macca.

This might be the worst song he ever recorded. Suddenly Extra Texture sounds pretty decent.

Oof... this is not good. The autotune is horrible.

Exactly. Always surprised when someone posts “I stopped after (insert album, song, or year here)”. As you stated though to each their own.

Song merely serviceable. It points to deluxe Egypt Station coming this year. Possibly first quarter?

I will come back to this one to see how I feel.

I've never heard the Crossroads riff in any other song. Admittedly I haven't heard every song recorded but I just wouldn't put such a recognisable riff into a song.

I see I'm in the vast minority, but I quite like it. The autotune doesn't kill the song for me; it's used as an effect, and what's wrong with that? Paul has used plenty of unorthodox vocal effects in the past. It's not like he's using it as a crutch, which is a problem I have with a lot of modern music.

The song itself is pretty good, I like the feel and the several different parts it has. A good song to ring in the new year, melancholy, but with hope. I dig the lyrics a lot. It's probably a good thing this didn't end up on Egypt Station because it would've stuck out like a sore thumb and not fit the feel of the album at all, but it's still good and I still like it.

One minor difference between the two: Revolver features outstanding music. This track is complete excrement.

Needs more threads this. Quick poll would kick things off nicely, followed by further sub-division of the atom.

At least on Revolver and Pepper the Beatles were setting production trends instead jumping on already dated ones.

Much of Egypt Station is substandard, but this is even worse. His beautiful voice that lasted for so many decades is going, but making himself sound like a Speak and Spell robot isn’t the solution to that problem.

For me it is a cool effect that creates a memorable hook.
