The guitars in the last ~minute are transcendent...

I was looping DATRS but I'm finally onto Ice Cream for Crow for a while...the Bat Chains are next probably, and as I mentioned I prefer the posthumous original Bat Chain Puller album to all but DATRS of the final four....

So me and my pal played LPs all night in his garage.

Ramble Tamble by Creedence is surely one of the coolest songs ever. Those tempo changes are to die for.
The studio production and the bands sound was truely amazing and never copied/bested. That rhythm section kills it every time. And the Fogerty brothers guitars oh man :thumbsup:

Why the hell didn't Marty Scorsese used that one in one of his movies

That one is rather good but I'm still struggling with him a little (although I haven't given him much time). I don't dislike it but there's still something that hasn't clicked. There's an element to this that's almost a little Springsteeny or something...

It's all @bzfgt's fault. I was already for English Rawk Hour, and
there was his eloquent posting on the Captain, hopelessly steering
me in another direction, ultimately crashing me into the
    nether plains of nigh.

I'm recovering this morning with a dose of ECM and a shot of
New Riders ( Field Trip Anthology 1971-75) for acclimation,
a wild pair, but it's Saturday and I don't care... oh, and strong
    java gulps for extra fortitude.

Gerry Hemingway - Drums & marimba

    “Luminous”

Recorded live on 10/30 & 31/2015 in Cologne

Thoroughly abstract and dynamic - Hemingway plays marimba along with his kit and the few times he really explodes on the kit reminds me he is still maybe the most powerful drummer on the planet.

    Stunning recorded sound

Holy headwind, contemporary country on a tinny shelf system? It was almost more than I could bear when I read that. A worse fate
I can't even imagine. But if someone poured a beer in my beer,
even with Garth Brooks rattling those 2-bit speakers?
    Well... I'd kiss'm.

I get it have been an FZ fan for almost forty years was lucky and privileged enough to see him live a few times. Some people like his socio/politico/humour/commentary but most dont i have been hearing it from my significant other for thirty plus years “he is a disgusting sexist pig” or something to that extent. The vocal material doesnt translate well because it mostly has to be taken in the context of its time. I have to admit that early on in my fandom my favorite record was the shut up and play your guitar box it prolly still is as i am a fan of the guitar first and FZ was one of the best.

My initial intention was listening to a couple of tracks adn then moving into something else, but I ended playing the whole thing. Pescado 2, one of the best double albums ever. 1973.

Garth was the evil genius that led the way for Contemptible Country
in my mind. 25 years later, I know, but I still have him locked in.
I know it's insensitive and mean, but heck... I'm mean.

I listened to that Trout Mask Replica album the other day for the first time. (I guess it was good timing, I had happened to be reading a thread about 'difficult albums you got on the first listen, and that one came up a lot, I didn't realize it was that time of year for some people.)

I would say I 'got it' the first time through, but weird for its own sake is something I'm fairly used to (which I'm sure is a common condition in these GD threads.)

I can see why some people are so into it, though I don't feel the need to go back to that well incredibly soon.

No man, be like me--excoriate them for their lapse in taste until you get temporarily banned from the thread. :D
I'm fairly sure you've seen more of my country than I have.
