What are the iconic guitars in your opinion?

Eric Clapton gave Keith Richards a 1954 Fender Telecaster on Keith's 27th birthday. This is the sound you hear on Exile. Keith named it "Micawber."

 

Trey Anastasio’s custom Paul Languedoc guitars. He’s got 4 or so that he’s played on stage with phish over the years, all similar body designs with different woods. The most interesting thing about them is that they are full hollow body and he uses the feedback inherent in that design to great effect, particularly for very long sustain



My favorite is the all Koa version he got in 2010. I like the tone and also the inlays. An Ocelot on the headstock and Gye Nyame at the 12th fret

I'm not sure if it's iconic to many others, but James Hetfield's Gibson Explorer (particularly the one with the "More Beer" sticker) is what I think of when I think of him, and even when I think of Metallica in general. I had a Metallica poster on my wall as a kid with him on stage playing that guitar, and I don't know how many times I looked at that while listening to Ride the Lightning.

 

I always liked Rick Nielsen playing Explorer style guitars.
Also Tom Petersson's 12-string bass.

 

Wow! Muriel taught guitar at the music school I attended. This was probably around 1997.

Middle years too, right? If I am not mistaken, this is the same guitar before he removed the pickguard and stripped the sunburst paint.

 

I think Tony Iommi's SG with the crosses for fret markers qualifies:
