That lovely feedback. And the sensation I start getting couple of minutes in, where I begin to question whether all the harmonies I hear are actually real or part of some aural mirage created in my brain. It's a very strange record but I'm glad it exists.

Yes, well said. It’s a very stimulating sound. There’s a lot going on. I find it hypnotic.

It's got a great beat, and you can dance to it.

I started hearing what sounded like classical structures in the sound after a while. I assume that was what Zeitkratzer picked up on.
Classical structures and cats in blenders. What a great palate cleanser.
I heard you don't quite get the full effect on cd. Definitely the end bit with the infinite loop on side 4. Or actually non-ending bit.
But there was some talk about not being able to digitise the frequencies correctly back in the early days of cds. Not sure if that's been fully corrected.

you posted a little graphic of a character laughing so hard at his statement that he is beating the ground.

I have a copy on CD but must admit that I have probably not played it much or at all after I originally purchased it to check out what all the fuss was about.

Unlistenable... masochistic ... oh come on, you guys are go boring.
I like it. It's like listening to waves crash or maybe a waterfall or something that isn't really a song so much as an experience to immerse yourself in. It's kind of sublime.

Oh really? You seem quite comfortable insulting people who don't share your taste. I've liked it since high school and when I was a composition student I used to listen to it for inspiration. It contains all the music ever written. The older I get the more beautiful it is!

I am a proud owner of an 8 track copy of this album. I love Lou, VU and im a casual fan of “experimental” or “ambient” music. I love this record. For a while I put it on while I fell asleep and let it spin all night in my dreams

It's nice to see some appreciation because the level of ignorance and arrogance that usually shows up when discussing this album is so predicable and boring. What's extra annoying is that saying "I don't like this" apparently isn't enough anymore. Now it's "Whoever says they like it have to be liars"....:help:

  18. <come on dude, if you want to know what's up with MMM read Lou's liner notes

Indeed. I like MMM. I mean I don't listen to it everyday or whatever but I am confused why anyone would doubt someone. It is pretty cynical

Oh dear. First Tago Mago disk 2, and now this. :)

Why does the idea that other people might like something that you hate give you so much anguish, that you feel the need to denigrate them?

When I get scam phone callers ("Hello, I'm calling from Microsoft, we've identified a security flaw on your PC") then I say I'm putting them on hold and then play them MMM nice and loud.

I cannot help myself taking another shot at this album. Fully justly ignored right from the day it was released and part way through a first listen.
