Woody has started a lawsuit against Amazon for breach of contract. Somehow I don't see this getting "A Rainy Day in New York" to screens any sooner, but we shall see.

Woody Allen sues Amazon over dropped film

  2. Just sad that this film is not being released.

That link pertains to Woody's personal life. Thought that was against your thread starter post ?

Should I have included instructions to just read the part about the lack of distribution for the movie and then close the link? Was I wrong in thinking that we can we all read the article and absorb the information without launching into a debate that is outside the bounds of the thread (and the forum)? Better yet, I'll just invoke one of my favorite Woody quotes. "I accept your condemnation."

Jesus Christ, of course any article noting the lawsuit would include details beyond his films. Any reasonable person would know that when clicking the link that it's extremely unlikely that related non film issues would not be mentioned... the onus is on the would be reader to decide if they want to click on the article or read it in a way where they close their sensitive eyes before - gasp - obvious related topics are discussed in said article...

    :sigh:

    Can't we all be adults?

If Amazon put the film on the open market for another company to purchase could they salvage any notable amount from the $25m budget.

Amazon might be smart to rip up his contract in exchange for GIVING him the film and saying "Good Luck!".

Perhaps a European company might show SOME interest - perhaps even the one financing the 2020 untitled project (assuming that's still happening)?

Option two sounds like a good resolution for both parties, and perhaps what Allen's lawyer had in mind when the suit was launched?

Thanks for this update. I watched it again today. Some of the jokes made me wince, but it was a nice reminder of why I fell in love with Diane Keaton.

That's awesome! His films are some of the best I've seen the past 10 years or so. Looking forward to this!

I saw this film for the first time this weekend. I have to say, it was very good. I agree with the comments above. In some ways, it's not an easy watch, but if one can get into it, then it's easier to get sucked into their world.

While I agree that the cast was very good, I wonder why his casts were generally older at this time.
