    No.

I think the point of not showing Ashley/Dorothy's murder or solving her killing is to say that "The Deuce" killed her: the whole system of pimps and prostitutes and corrupt cops & pols and the mob. And just as Dorothy's murder pushes Alston to buy into the MEP, Karate Kid takes a slug from Method Man, turning him into a hero where he can thwart Alston's plans and keep the whole corrupt system spinning. Vincent wants out (of the parlors and the peeps), Candy wants out (she thinks she can now make movies without mob money), Darlene and Larry want out (Darlene's taking classes and Larry's charisma might make him a legit actor), Paul wants out (but Tommy reminds him that once you're in, you're in), Lori sorta gets out (if being a coked-up porn starlet counts as "out"), Loretta walks out but to where we don't know, etc.

I thought her vocal was the worst part of it. Grates on me to the point I actually speed through the credits every episode. And I'm a HUGE EC fan.

A thousand pardons if I offended you, I didn't mean to.

I gathered from earlier posts you had experience in the trade.

Tell us the extent of your involvement.

Chris DeVoe RIP Vickie Mapes Williams (aka Equipoise)

Okay, although it's likely to get deleted yet again. When I was a teen we had a family friend who had been in a number of x-rated films. She was the daughter of my dad's boss the time, and had decided to get into them after seeing director Gerard Damiano speak at UMKC, and he created a film starring her. The film Portrait had its world premiere in Kansas City with spotlights, limousines red carpet and all the rest at the Dove theater on Main Street.

Years later, I installed the video projector at the Dove when production shifted from film to video tape. Also my wife was the bookkeeper for a video shop called SRO Video which was owned by the couple that owned the Dove, and the office was upstairs behind the projection booth. So Vickie would be doing the books, and between features would sometimes run the spotlight for the strippers. Occasionally she would make up mixtapes for the women - one young woman made up a whole routine to Dave Stewart and Barbera Gaskin's version of The Locomotion - complete with overalls, an engineer's cap and an oil can.

So my experience is mostly peripheral, never involved in production but I've seen a lot of the "golden age" films, knew people involved in the production of them and went to the theaters during that period that the New York times named "p***o chic."

It's the regular Blondie version but like last season's "This Year's Girl" it's been sped up some. I doubt anyone could play that drum part faster than Clem Burke's original!

Was that supposed to be The Damned performing New Rose?

There's something historically "off" either way:

    * If it's supposed to be The Damned, (a) they were breaking up at that time (Dec. '77); (b) lead singer Dave Vanian (a stage name based on "Transylvanian") usually dressed as Dracula, which the singer in The Deuce is not.

    * If it's supposed to be a cover band, punk bands of the era generally didn't cover each other's contemporary songs.

There have been questions about having a punk band play in midtown in the first place, but The Hi-Hat is based on Tin Pan Alley which was a "below-14th-Street" style club on 49th.
