Watching Welk today is a bizarre experience.

It was pretty strange even at the time:

Replying to myself - I forgot about Zoidberg - who is an embarrassing ethnic stereotype, but a twisted one.

I recently bought Cannon Season 1 and Mannix Seasons 1 & 2 and loved every minute! Old comedy shows from that same era don't hold up well for me though.

I liked it a lot at the time, I just can’t stomach Alan Alda (Hawkeye) anymore.

I love it these days because it’s such a time capsule with some geniunely weird moments. Couldn’t stand it as a kid when my grandparents used to watch it.

Raymond Burr made the show, and Ironside too.

"Futurama" has other ethnic stereotypes - Amy's parents and the Don Bot come to mind. I'm sure there are plenty more...

I'd never seen the US "Office" until I was sick over winter break and binged on reruns. I thought it was pretty good!

I watched a lot of "Bob Newhart Show" when the complete series DVDs came out 5 years ago - I thought it was still excellent!

I find Gilligan's Island to be really cheesy.

On the other hand, I recently watched The Honeymooners and it was hilarious and aside from the obvious times and B&W nature of the show, very very good. Remarkably fast-paced when compared with 70s sitcoms.

Not the thread, i know but.... I started re-watching Miami Vice. It's surprisingly still enjoyable! Loving it well into season 2!

Most of the ones listed I can no longer watch, Brady bunch and Monkees are the first that spring to mind.

Just brilliant. The subtle humor is something that would be completely lost on the idiot hosts today and their audiences.

For one watch the episode where Fraisier and Lilith go on a local talk show together. First he say she's a woman in need of a good slapping (or some such word) , then he threatens to take her against her will and kiss her. In no time she is weak in the knees with desire from all this machismo and leaves with him.

Sam more than once threatened Diane with his hands cause she drove him so "nutty".

I know the show like the back of my hand. Here is what he says.

[Dr Stern] : "While we're on the subject, Dr. Crane, I suggest that your behavior indicates an unacceptable level of sexual frustration. You strike me as a man who needs professional help. Or perhaps a girlfriend."

[Dr Crane] : "And you strike me as a woman who could use a good cuffing."

The above sentence is a reference to her being so uptight that she could use some playful bedroom activities to soften her up (with the use of handcuffs).

After she lets her hair down, Dr Crane's demeanor changes immediately from being confrontational to being weak in the knees and he says he'll kiss her but she kisses him first.

Now, what the hell are you talking about? Or is this yet another episode of "False Conclusions Spread Online?"
