You may be right. Looking at the case, it says "2005 Special edition" and "1988 Turner Preview Edition". The original theatrical release seems to get some criticism for not reflecting Peckinpah's intentions.

I like those choices . also lonesome dove if that counts.
I just watched wild bunch recently 3 great scenes in that movie. Robert Ryan says to his gang of losers we are chasing MEN . that's a funny line.

Has anyone seen the 4K version of Butch and Sundance on itunes? Is it any good?
I haven't seen the film in almost 20 years but I don't feel like buying the blu-ray because it uses an old and very dated master.
Since it's the 5oth anniversary I'm hoping that it will be released in 4K and BD

 

It was the film to see 50 years ago. Though it didn’t appeal to me at the time. The thing that’s looks corny now ( even then ) is the push bike raindrops song scene.

 

1969 was a good year for westerns:

Just recently saw 'Run of the Arrow' for the first time. Great movie and kind of a different role for Rod Steiger. Sam Fuller sadly didn't make a lot of westerns, but both this and '40 Guns' were very good. I think his two-fisted pulp style was ideally suited to the Western genre.
