Not so constant, it was stolen in the early seventies

  2. While that hollow body Gibson was the guitar he was playing during "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" at the show, and it's the one he's pictured with predominately in the photo booklet for the album...

... if you watch the whole film, most of the time he's using his trusty old tobacco sunburst Fender Stratocaster "Brownie" (same one as is on the back cover of the Layla album)...

I remember discussions of his guitar choice here and elsewhere upon his emergence. But he is the exception, rather than the rule, thus far.

The Telecaster style guitars that Townsend and Daltrey had in the "Eminence Front" video was a surprise to me first time I saw it

Makes it even stranger he didn't play the Strat on WMGGW since he had it right there. Maybe his judgment was a bit impaired that day.

Lou Reed playing a steinberger six string during his mullet era was quite “disturbing”

Why rubbish? I read that Brian May himself sometimes plays replicas of his Red Special.

  14. It's all that's left (or that anyone has been able to discover so far...) of the video they were shooting for "I'm Losing You" (& Yoko's "Give Me Something")... it's only the footage from just one of the cameras & with precious little Lennon time... but, for years, the story was John didn't like the footage & had destroyed it all (supposedly submerged it in the bathtub), so when this finally surfaced a year or two ago, it was a big deal...

Having played with most of the Red Special guitar models (from Guild to Burns), I've found that it's the Red Special PEDAL that gives me the Brian May tone/sound far more than the guitars do. It has pickup switches for single or double-coils and has adjustable setting for various songs, with both lead and rhythm tones. It's especially perfect through a Vox, obviously. I do love this pedal!

  21. It’s a Hofner ? NO! It’s a Rickenbacker? NO! It’s a Fender Jazz Bass That McCartney is playing!

Not sure about George’s guitar, is this one out of his usual choices?

  23. It's John alright & wearing Yoko's white cap. Supposedly there was a foreign (Japanese?) documentary on her & a short burst of video from that shoot (her part) surfaced... other Lennon detectives discovered photos from the day of the shoot- with him in that orange shirt & jacket and her wearing the white cap...

Here's a great old thread with loads of amazing detective work from folks on the forum here (I posted plenty on it, but not one of the great detectives) all about this legendary, once long lost, but recently found, Lennon video from 1980-

Has Yoko ever commented on the unseen 1980 Lennon music videos?

John Fogerty playing a Rickenbacker 325 during his CCR days for all of his lead stuff always confounded me. I LOVE Ricks, I own a couple, and nothing else sounds or feels like a Rick, but they definitely lend themselves to more rhythm and rhythmic/jangly lead playing, not full out rock lead work (I have other guitars when I need to let rip on lead)
