Excellent film but the ending is a total cop-out.

True, I can see that. Unexpected to say the least. I think they likely didn’t know how to end the film.

It's obvious that they didn't. The story is - literally - left hanging in the air. Charley is alienated from his new environment in London but doesn't belong in Manchester, either, but getting airborne is not the answer.

Accident and The Family Way used to be available on a twofer DVD, which I bought in the early 000s.

Accident itself should still be widely available as it had a DVD release of its own a few years back. It's also available in a Joseph Losey box set (with Losey's other 'Pinter films' - The Servant and The Go Between').

And a Man from UNCLE and a Doctor Who too. The only thing that annoys me is the sped-up footage. They ought to de-speed it. I'm sure it would work.

I recently bought the Ken Loach BBC box set. It's worth every penny.

    Brilliant film.

Apologies if this film has already been mentioned but all lovers of 60’s Brit-Films must watch this -

The Small World Of Sammy Lee.

Anthony Newley stars as a stripshow compere who owes a lot of money to a local heavy. Superb footage of old 60’s Soho and a great cast.
    Brilliant

    Up The Junction

About a rich girl slumming in Battersea/London.

Great Mike Hugg :Manfred Mann inspired score.
A very young Susan George ( for fans of the Straw Dogs ⭐️)

Although 2 years out of the 60’s , Violent Playground should get an honorary mention.

The cast includes Stanley Baker, Peter Cushing David McCullum, Melvyn Hayes and and very young Freddie Starr.

    Fun fact:
The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Runner made a huge impression on Paul Westerberg when he was young. The idea that you should prove you could succeed like people want you to, then choose, as an act of rebellion, to fail...

Well that explains a lot about The Replacements.

    Georgy Girl(1966)

    “ at least he’s a millionaire “. :D

Lynn Redgrave was brilliant in this and Charlotte Rampling excelled playing a bitch( lifetime career).

Forgot James Mason was in it, gave the film class.

Still on a British cinema bent blu ray this time with Privilege , don’t recall seeing it before. Paul ( I’ve been a bad bad boy)Jones is actually pretty good as a actor. Whole plot a future scenario as Steven Shorter pop singer saviour marketed product to the masses. Supposedly set in the seventies which ironically Patti Smith used one of the soundtrack songs Set Me Free on her Easter album. Release date February 1967, which gives it a mod look.

    stepeanut The gloves are off

Great film, and a key influence on both Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust character and the look of Stanley Kubrick’s film of A Clockwork Orange.

Peter Watkins is one of my favourite British directors.
