Speed stability: Direct Drive vs belt

I'm listening to one now! seriously

 

For just a few bucks I had KAB upgrade my arm with a silicone fluid dampener setup ($100?).
I wrapped the arm with shrink wrap using a heat gun.
$5?
It looks the part now.
I would easily put this arm setup which came from the factory up against a solid SME for instance...
It came with factory low capacitance high end arm wiring.
Also adjustable on the fly tonearm height.
And has easily adjustable mass from medium/low all the way to weighs a ton high mass...(by my own invention).
I am not the "fanboy" type.
Tables I remember for being "special" (and that I have owned) are Empire Troubadour. Weathers mono "fm" cartridge table, AR turntable, first edition Technics SL1200 series, tons of Garrards inside portables etc...
I love tables.
Oh.
I just bought a new Pioneer PLX 1000 and stuck my home made weighted mass modification on it for handling Denons as that is my preferred cart.
It does the heritage proud.
Haven't run the two tables side by side but the family resemblance is there in spades.

I use the DL-103R in a Jelco arm. Other than that our systems are a bit different I guess. Might add an on the fly type height adjustment, but honestly bothering with a lot of VTA adjustments once you have it dialed is mostly a waste of time in my experience.

Thought it would be apparent I was being sarcastic.

I favor DD and my current table is in my avatar.

I don't have these extreme positions that I see in this thread and believe all 3 designs can sound quite good, but I think DD has greatest potential and current best measured performance.

I am playing a just out of shrink for the first time, new old stock pressing of "The Best Of Johnny Bond" on Starday.

 

Agree I have an vintage lightweight suspended belt drive a heavy weight belt drive and Iam thinking of buying the Technics sl 1200GR not because I strive for better but variety
