I watch a lot of from time to time. The one's I find entertaining are the one's uploading video's of their first turntable, or the records they have just bought. Seeing them bragging about their new record player that turns out to be a Crossley. Seeing them overjoyed is well worth seeing spite the fact. Buying overpriced second hand records, and hearing them say 'I bought this one for $5.00, it's by somebody named Nancy Sinatra??..... I've never heard of her but I really liked the cover, and I thought it was cheap'. Those showing off their Vinyl(S) collection hehehe, which might be like 20 LP's. It's pretty cool seeing the excitement of the youngin's experiencing all of this for the first time. Like a lot of us here, I just naturally grew up with the format and have long forgotten the initial joy of 'wow, this is a record!' Still an amazing format isn't it? And it wont break the bank to find some wonderful enjoyment even on a young beginner's scale.
Sometimes I watch both the vinyl collection videos and the stereo system videos. I posted my music room tour video a little over a year ago, but I haven't gotten a lot of views.
I have to say that the Vinyl Rewind channel is very well done. I don’t share the much of the same musical taste as the guy hosting the show but from what I’ve seen on YouTube he’s got easily the best presented show - professional, slick and usually informative . I usually watch even if the artist featured is someone I’m not interested in. Most everything else vinyl related on YouTube I’ve found is some variant of some unkempt guy sitting or standing in front of his iPhone filming himself. Not exactly inspiring stuff.
Say, this is just like popping round to Maslov World Head-Quarters(MWHQ). Keep 'em coming Mazzy. Essential viewing!
I like his channel, and I subscribe to it. It’s obviously heavy kitsch in the design and graphics, but he doesn’t take himself too seriously. And that’s great. What I don’t care for are the channels that look too slick...as if they are heavily sponsored. I’d rather watch something like Mazzy’s snarky one take videos any day of the week, as they are far more informative, and have a lot more information that’s useful to me...plus there’s some humor in there. It’s not so dry and rehearsed.
Vinyl Rewind is the 50's style guy? Yes, I like him a lot. He has great varied taste, he's entertaining to watch and seems like a nice guy, not too full of himself, and he knows about the technical things that matter but doesn't bore you with that. Darren Lock I watch as he's a laugh, although we don't share the same tastes. I used to watch this guy from Germany, can't remember his name now, he started each video with 'Hello friends..', he liked Jazz and 90's rock and all sorts. Found him very warm and entertaining but he seems to have not posted for a while now. The rest I find a very mixed bag. Some 18 year old with a crappy all in one system saying how much better Rumours is on vinyl I can happily live without.
Is Darren Lock the coffee time guy...who then makes a cup of instant coffee? He’s pretty nutty, but entertaining. I’m not sure, but it seems that he gets a lot of his stuff for free?
Earhead Six has a good VC channel. There's also a young guy named Don Cole, whose channel I like. Vinyl Richie is also pretty good.
MATT and SAM, are amazing for Psych collectables, here you can only drool at their collections...........
These guys are my favorites and I even see them at the record shows in St. Louis. I just wish they'd post something new.
Those I subscribe to... Matt Sands (and Sam) Mean Mr. Mayo Earhead Six (Bo Grumpus) Hogs Ear Report (Ron) Tim Allen Noble Records Don Cole In the early VC days I used to really enjoy the videos of a guy who went by the name of Punktexas. He would make videos at yard sales etc. and his videos were always fun to watch. Sadly he stopped making vids a few years back.
I like this guy’s channel too...James Buttery. He does a meet up in this video with other VC members, one of which is a Hoffman member (and also has a very good VC channel 0f his own...Campo007, not sure of his name here)
Vinyl eyezz is an awful person and his videos are way more disinformative and hurtful than they are helpful or even interesting.
I'm mostly with you on Vinyl eyezz being disinformation. Maybe that's part of why I enjoy him. I don't have any information regarding the type of person he is, though.
I watched the video of him responding to LEGITIMATE criticisms with really petty, child like attacks against people, evading the criticisms altogether and came to the conclusion that he’s either not a very nice person or actually pretty dumb.
