I have seen this described as the test pressing on Facebook but with no great authority so don't take my word for it (I can't remember where on Facebook).

If they finally release the test pressing (that should have been included on the More Blood, More Tracks box set) on LP and not on CD, and only as an exclusive limited RSD item, I'm gonna get pretty pissed off, that's for sure.

Not as pissed off as me if I line up at the butt crack of dawn for this and it turns out to be compiled from MBMT mixes and featuring the alternate organ overdub.

I don't know that I'd jump to the conclusion that this is the test pressing just yet. And I'd be truly shocked if it turns out to contain material not already found on the big box.

Ray, your cowardly words of caution have no power to temper my towering rage at... wait, what am I supposed to be mad about again?

Agreed. For all we know, it may just be a straight reissue of the original LP.

If the words "spooky organ" don't set your blood to boiling, you don't know an emergency when you see one.

Maybe the original release in the 2018 mix?

Maybe. I could also imagine a speed corrected version of the original LP mixes (a la the CBS Mastersound). But it’s all just guesswork for now.

Although still inexcusable that the test pressing was not included on MBMT I really hope this comes to pass as the original test pressing deserves an official release. It was until the very last minute the album Dylan approved in takes, overdubs & mixes. It is criminal that the 5 replaced tracks have not been released in their original form. However I don't hold out much hope on this, listen to the Steve Berkowitz interview either he or Dylan's office definitely do not like the "spooky organ" version of Idiot Wind. They had a chance to release it on BS1-3 (it is mentioned in the liner notes) only for an alternate take to be used & we all know what happened on MBMT! Just really hope I am proved wrong.

Has there ever been a red vinyl release of Blood on the Tracks? It seems like a very RSD-type gimmick.

Very interesting... my bet is on a faithful reproduction of the test pressing ala the basement tape lp (rsd release). Cmon Rosen, you know you want to!!!

Did the Basement Tapes vinyl disc faithfully reproduce the original contemporary mixes? I don't own it (or a turntable)

No, it was apparently Garth's original 1967 mono mixes.

It's still too soon Ray -- I'm not over my grief yet -- WHAT DO THEY MEAN NO SPOOKY ORGAN???

Let me try an analogy to explain.

Columbia/Sony is Lucy, the "spooky organ " "Idiot Wind" is the football, and the fans are Charlie Brown.

NumberEight Came too late and stayed too long

I’m puzzled. Wouldn’t Garth’s 1967 mixes have been used on the (original contemporary) acetate we all knew and loved?

:agree: And for those, like me, who think that footballs are round, here is Ray's analogy in pictures:-

According to Goldmine, it is a replica of the '74 Test Pressing. I posted this info last week in the 2019 RSD thread.

Even though it's infuriating for something so essential to be released limitedely, I'll be really disappointed if this is anything but the TP

Can we explore what "replica" means? They still have the stampers? They still have the masters?
