King of the Hill (Seasons 1 to 12 on DVD, last season on blu ray) Batman: The Animated Series (Blu ray) Batman Beyond (DVD) Batman 1966 (DVD) Ranma 1/2 (Blu ray) Urusei Yatsura (Blu ray) Maicchingu Machiko-sensei (DVD) No need for anything else right now as I only want to own my absolute favorites (aside from the 60s Batman which I merely find decent).
I sold my individual seasons on eBay last year. I think I had 1-5. I like how HBO produces these sets. It's a no-nonsense approach. I've been re-watching Mad Men when my kiddo is not here and getting the BDs in and out of the case is a royal pain. Breaking Bad packaging sucks, too.
All In The Family Barney Miller Becker Coach Dallas (My wife's LOL) Dick Van Dyke Mad About You The Nanny (Also my wife's) The Odd Couple Quantum Leap Soap Wings WKRP in Cincinnati The Wonder Years And these limited run series: Fawlty Towers Flash Forward The Honeymooners
at least the BD is not as fragile as the DVD which scratches if you look at it the wrong way! ; ) many dvd box sets I own have some scratched discs...
What's your criteria for something like (the mentioned in this thread) "Beavis and Butt-head", where there are four volumes of the show, but none are complete seasons and it's not the entire series?
Collecting whole series these days are pretty easy as long as they are in print. Remember the old days of VHS where you could subscribe to Time-Life to get a tape every month with a couple of episodes of Bewitched or The Beverly Hillbillies episodes on each one? Those were challenging & expensive times.
And it also does on my copy of that Streets of San Francisco all-in-one from CBS; several mini-spindles with 2 or 3 discs on each spindle. I have to remove several discs from on top of the one I want (and make sure the playing surfaces are up) in order to get to the one I want. I've learned to live with it, though, as remarkable as that ABC police/detective series has been.
Turns out there's more than I thought: – The Sopranos – The Wire – The Shield – Homicide: Life on the Street – Flight of the Conchords – Breaking Bad – Deadwood – The Prisoner – I'm Alan Partridge – The Thick of It – Curb Your Enthusiasm Mrs K-G has Green Wing, Black Books, and Nurse Jackie but I don't much care for any of those.
Do you have all of the early-2000's Avengers DVD's (Gale, King, etc.)? In my list above, I was going to count my 2013 Emma Peel Megaset, but I left it off, since it's technically not the complete series...
Yes, I got them after I got my Blu-rays to replace my Emma box. While they might benefit from a blu-day upgrade, it wouldn’t be as great as the filmed episodes. Still, they do deserve the same deluxe treatment as the later we’ll known American ones. Wish Secret Agent Man would get a BD upgrade as well but wishes sadly are for fishes who can’t do anything about them...
I had Deadwood (and I forgot to mention Justified in my list as well) on DVD I’m hoping that, once we see the movie released, we will see a new set on Blu Ray. I also forgot to mention Quantum Leap.
Why would we need a new set? The currently available one is about as awesome as it's ever going to be.
revised Quantum Leap The Rockford Files Justified The Shield The Wire The Avengers (60’s TV show-Blu except for early series with Cathy Gale, etc.) The Time Tunnel Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (first two seasons before it got stupid)(DVD) Lost in Space (original series season one) (DVD) Star Trek Deep Space Nine (DVD) Enterprise Star Trek: The Next Generation Firefly The Invaders (DVD) The Outer limits (original series) Fringe The Wild Wild West (DVD) Kolchak The Night Stalker Space 1999 The Prisoner Prime Suspect Doctor Who (new series versions DVD except for the high def seasons) The X Files Battlestar Galatica (remake series) Breaking bad The Expanse Farscape 12 Monkeys The Flash (original TV show DVD Blu Ray 9n new versions n which is still going on) The Adventures of Bristol County Jr. (DVD) Ash vs. Evil Dead The Man From Uncle (DVD) Get Smart (DVD) Mission Impossible (original 60’s series)(DVD) Rome (wish this series had gotten a proper send off) Human Target (I have season one on a Blu Ray and I recorded the second season off air onto DVD) (All Blu day unless noted otherwise) Phew. Seems I got them all this time. Didn’t realize how many I had. Secret Agent Man is on my to get list as is The Avengers (70’s) but I’m hoping these both get Blu-Ray. The irony is that the 60’s shows all look gorgeous (when color timed correctly and restored) yet a lot will never get BD releases.
Not many Utopia, Spiral, The Killing, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,The Wire and very recently and for me oddly every season of Game of Thrones my son dragged me in then drinking together it dragged me in.
I never picked up the Blu-Ray and was hoping for the film to inspire a reissue with more special features, outtakes, etc.
own but on "permanent" loan: Deadwood Carnivale The Wire House Of Cards-US in my hands: Pushing Daisies-only Blu rest DVD Homicide Mad Men-all unopened Lost Buffy The Shield Firefly(w/Serenity) Nip/Tuck Rescue Me Wild Wild West Batman Millenium Heroes Wiseguy Time Tunnel Alias Smith & Jones Crime Story Murder One Twin Peaks-original 24 Party Down House of Cards-UK the Honeymooners had Mission Impossible but was offered a ridiculous amount of money so sold that Green Hornet-tv vhs to dvd transfer-looks good though Breaking Bad-1, 2, & 3 so far don't get me started on animation
Damn. Forgot to mention the Twin Peaks Blu. I sold my Alias Smith and Jones complete series as the transfer for the second season was shoddy and the compression was horrible (someth8ng like eight to ten episodes per disc). The first season was done with a bit more care since Universal released it themselves but when they licensed it out, the quality of the authoring and the cut episodes was horrible.
Yes, Secret Agent needs a Region 1 upgrade. It would look fantastic on Blu-ray. I rewatched all of Quantum Leap last year on Blu-ray. Looked great and it was fantastic to see it again for the first time in over 20 years...
