  3. I'm sure we'll see it in other forms once the 8000 units are sold out.

As a 6-CD purchaser, I am fighting off an inclination of feeling marginalized -- which, in all likelihood, will ultimately prove to be a losing battle.

That doesn’t mean you can’t win the war (in the final end).

All right! My guess was spot on... my other hunch is that Dylan’s people read this forum.

Also, limited to 8000 is actually a great number and chances are I will easily be able to obtain one.

I thought that "spooky" had been renamed "haunting" or clavier atmospherique, or some such like . . . ?

Amazing, simply amazing. I think it’s fair to assume an exact copy of the acetate. From the hype sticker:

The original New York version of
blood on the tracks replica of the 1974 test pressing
    features unique mixes
    available for
    the first time ever

Never mind that it can't be both a replica of something pre-existing and also available for the first time ever ;-)

I wonder how many copies of needledrops have been illicitly sold / distributed?

Regarding the "features unique mixes available for the first time ever". The 5 tracks that were not re-recorded at Sound 80 in MN, I presume they are identical on the test pressing and the official BOTT? Or are there 2 separate 74 mixes?

Those of you with experience of buying RSD releases in NYC, where might be my best option for getting hold of a copy of this?

Or ... ebay after the fact - i picked up a couple of copies of the 2015 RSD release Original Basement Tape acetate at reasonable - but not the cheapest - prices, shortly after.

Awesome RSD release, altho remains to be seen exactly what we’ll get - the original test pressing mixes remastered would be great!

The promo-style sticker is cool, as is the label, but don’t know if it is accurate or not. See example at https://recordmecca.com/item-archiv...etate-blood-on-the-tracks-unreleased-version/.

I’m curious as well. I hope they are from the master tapes and mixed to sound just like the acetate. I believe this approach was used by berkowitz to mix the original mono recordings?

That is one of the "acetates" and is an acetate. The vinyl test pressing of the withdrawn album looks like this:-

In this case, I think it can.

The test pressing “exists,” but it’s never been “available” in any official capacity.

Should be the same mix but the official BOTT was sped up. The test pressing wasn't so the two are different.

Cool! And hopefully we'll get the original mixes, and sound minus the pops 'n' ticks! (Again, the RSD '15 Basement replica was very nicely done.)

... "features unique mixes available for the first time ever" - commercially.

I agree about "The Basement Tape" release. Some might say, "greasy kid stuff", and yes the Garth signature stamp is a bit cheesy, but it's something of a treasure here in Percy Towers. That one was limited to 6,000 worldwide (1,000 were wallet-emptyingly expensive, 2,500 were jaw-droppingly expensive and 2,500 were just very expensive). But the very expensive ones were still available at RSD outlets three years after release. I expect the test pressing to be more popular but 8,000 should be enough to go round.
